The Snappers shut out Dayton on five hits to win for the sixth time in their last seven games on Saturday. Last year’s 9th-round draft pick for the A’s, LHP Jared Poche, turned in his third straight quality start for the Snappers, throwing 7 scoreless innings to earn his team-leading 7th win. LHP Josh Reagan pitched 2 perfect innings in relief to complete the shutout. Left fielder Logan Farrar singled, walked twice and hit a two-run homer, while shortstop Nick Allen had 3 singles and stole a base, and designated hitter Hunter Hargrove doubled twice and drove in a run for the Snappers.

The Sounds went down to defeat in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader in Nashville. Starter Raul Alcantara surrendered 6 runs over 5 1/3 frames to suffer hs 2nd loss for the Sounds. LHP Danny Coulombe tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief, and third baseman Sheldon Neuse had 2 hits, including a double, and drew a walk in the loss. Meanwhile, the Sounds lost the team’s saves leader when RHP Bobby Wahl was sent to the Mets in the Jeurys Familia deal on Saturday.

RHP Liam Hendriks made the spot start and tossed 2 scoreless innings, while LHP Dean Kiekhefer threw 3 scoreless frames to earn his 6th win for the Sounds. Left fielder Anthony Garcia notched his team-leading 18th home run for Nashville in the win.

The RockHounds came up short in extra innings to suffer their seventh loss in their last nine games on Saturday. RHP Brian Howard turned in a solid start, allowing 2 runs, just 1 earned, while striking out 6 over 7 innings of work, but LHP Jarret Martin and RHP Nolan Blackwood combined to surrender 5 runs in the top of the 10th, with Martin taking the loss. First baseman Seth Brown had 2 hits, including a triple, while center fielder Luis Barrera singled twice, walked, stole a base and scored twice, and right fielder Skye Bolt singled, doubled and drove in a pair of runs for the RockHounds.

Stockton suffered its third loss in its last four games on Saturday. Starter Evan Manarino surrendered 6 runs over 5 frames to take the loss. Left fielder Luke Persico singled, tripled, walked and drove in a run, while first baseman Sandber Pimentel drew a walk and doubled in a run, and third baseman Brallan Perez had a pair of hits for the Ports. In other news, Stockton third baseman William Toffey was shipped to the Mets in the Jeurys Familia deal, and Ports outfielder and team-stolen-base-leader Dairon Blanco was placed on the disabled list. The 25-year-old Cuban speedster will undergo hamate bone surgery next week and is expected to be sidelined for the remainder of the season.

The Lake Monsters were shut out on just four hits on Saturday. 22-year-old Venezuelan LHP Jhenderson Hurtado turned in his second straight strong start, striking out 6 while throwing 6 scoreless innings, but a pair of fielding errors by 18-year-old Dominican second baseman Marcos Brito and a throwing error by LHP Chris Kohler led to 7 unearned runs off Kohler, who suffered his 2nd loss for the Lake Monsters. This year’s 4th-round draft pick for the A’s, first baseman Alfonso Rivas, singled twice in the loss.

The AZL A’s scored 11 runs to notch the win in the completion of a suspended game on Saturday. 18-year-old Dominican designated hitter George Bell had 2 hits, drew a walk and drove in a pair, while 18-year-old Venezuelan shortstop Alexander Campos singled twice, walked and drove in a run, and 19-year-old Venezuelan right fielder Rafael Rincones singled, doubled and drove in a run for the A’s. 19-year-old Dominican RHP Ismael Aquino made the start and allowed 1 run in 2 innings of work, while this year’s 28th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Reid Birlingmair, was charged with 2 unearned runs in 2 1/3 innings of relief and picked up his first pro win on Saturday.
