Right fielder Ramon Laureano delivered the key hit to help the Sounds snap their four-game losing streak on Thursday. Laureano, who was acquired from the Astros in the offseason, slugged is 4th home run in the 6th inning. Then, with the bases loaded and the game tied in the 7th, Laureano lined a single to left field to drive in the winning run for the Sounds. Third baseman Sheldon Neuse followed Laureano’s homer in the 6th with his 1st home run of the season and also singled and walked in the game. After struggling through much of April and May, Neuse is now batting .400 over his last 7 games for the Sounds. Catcher Bruce Maxwell and rehabbing outfielders Matt Joyce and Boog Powell notched a pair of hits apiece for Nashville. Starter Eric Jokisch allowed 4 runs, 2 earned, over 6 innings of work, while rehabbing LHP Ryan Buchter tossed 1 scoreless inning in relief to earn the win, and RHP Bobby Wahl struck out a pair in a perfect 9th to pick up his 7th save for the Sounds.

The RockHounds dropped their fourth straight and suffered their seventh loss in their last eight games on Thursday. Starter Logan Shore allowed 3 runs over 5 1/3 frames to take the loss for Midland. Center fielder Skye Bolt drew a pair of walks and hit his 1st home run for the Hounds. Meanwhile, RHP Brian Howard was reassigned to the RockHounds from the Ports on Thursday.

After winning the division title in the first half, Stockton kicked off the second half with a one-run win on Thursday. Center fielder Luis Barrera tripled, doubled and drove in a pair of runs, including the go-ahead run in the 4th inning for the Ports. Shortstop Brallan Perez had 3 hits and drove in a run, and second baseman Nate Mondou slugged his 6th home run for Stockton. Starter Matt Milburn allowed 4 runs over 5 1/3 frames and notched his 5th win, while RHP Angel Duno pitched a perfect 9th to pick up his 6th save for the Ports. Meanwhile, Stockton’s top starter, RHP Brian Howard, was reassigned to the RockHounds, and Snappers RHP Xavier Altamirano was promoted to the Ports on Thursday.

Beloit bounced back from a two-run deficit to claim a one-run victory on Thursday. With the game tied in the top of the 9th, left fielder JaVon Shelby singled and then stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error before scoring the winning run on right fielder Mickey McDonald‘s RBI single. Shelby also tripled and scored the Snappers’ first run in the 5th, while McDonald and shortstop Nick Allen had a pair of hits apiece. Starter Bryce Conley allowed 2 runs over 5 frames, while LHP Josh Reagan tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings to pick up the win, and RHP Seth Martinez got the final out in the 9th to notch his 9th save for the Snappers. Meanwhile, Beloit RHP Xavier Altamirano was reassigned to Stockton, and Vermont RHP Wandisson Charles was added to the Snappers roster on Thursday.

The Lake Monsters suffered a one-run loss to have their five-game winning streak snapped on Thursday. This year’s 5th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Brady Feigl, made the start and gave up 2 runs in 1 inning of work in his pro debut, but RHP Jose Mora was outstanding in relief. The 20-year-old Dominican righty allowed just 1 unearned run and struck out 7 over 6 solid innings, but last year’s 24th-round pick, RHP Slater Lee, surrendered the winning run in the bottom of the 8th to suffer the loss for the Lake Monsters. Last year’s 16th-round pick, left fielder Payton Squier, collected 3 hits, including a double, while last year’s 12th-round pick, first baseman Aaron Arruda, doubled and drew a pair of walks, and 22-year-old Panamanian catcher Robert Mullen doubled in the tying run in the top of the 6th for Vermont. The AZL A’s scored three runs in the top of the 9th to notch their fourth straight win on Thursday. This year’s 18th-round draft pick for the A’s, second baseman Cobie Vance, singled, tripled and drove in 3 runs, while this year’s 33rd-round pick, shortstop Joseph Pena, drew 3 walks, stole a base and singled in a run, and 18-year-old Dominican outfielder Kevin Richards and this year’s 27th-round pick, outfielder Chase Calabuig, both doubled in runs for the A’s. Rehabbing RHP Kyle Finnegan made the start and allowed 1 run in 1 inning of work, while this year’s 9th-round pick, RHP Chase Cohen, pitched 1 perfect inning in his pro debut, and 10th-round pick, RHP Clark Cota, tossed 1 scoreless inning in relief. Rehabbing RHP Corey Walter gave up 2 runs, 1 earned, in 1 inning of work, while 22-year-old Panamanian LHP Jorge Martinez notched the final two outs in the bottom of the 8th to earn the win, and 19-year-old Dominican infielder Christopher Quintin pitched a scoreless 9th to pick up the save.
