The Sounds lost their second straight to Tacoma to fall a game under .500, but LHP Eric Jokisch turned in his best start of the season on Sunday. The 28-year-old free agent signee struck out a season-high 7 while throwing 6 shutout innings and left the game with a one-run lead. But LHP Jeremy Bleich was charged with 1 run in 1 1/3 innings of relief, while RHP Raul Alcantara gave up 1 run over 1 2/3 innings, and RHP Bobby Wahl had a rare rough outing, allowing his first earned run since May 22. The 26-year-old surrendered 3 runs, 2 earned, in the top of the 10th to take the loss for Nashville. Designated hitter Beau Taylor had 2 hits, including a double, while catcher Bruce Maxwell drove in the Sounds’ first run with a sacrifice fly in the 2nd and then doubled in the tying run in the bottom of the 9th in his second game since his return to the Sounds. Center fielder BJ Boyd singled twice, drew a walk and drove in a run, and left fielder Anthony Garcia singled and drove in a run with a sacrifice fly for the Sounds. Meanwhile, Nashville outfielder Jake Smolinski was recalled by the A’s, and RHP Chris Bassitt was sent back to the Sounds on Sunday.

The RockHounds suffered their fourth loss in their last six games on Sunday to see their record fall to two games under.500. Starter Logan Shore allowed 4 runs, 3 earned, over 6 2/3 innings to suffer his 2nd loss for Midland. Left fielder Tyler Ramirez drew a walk and doubled in a run, while catcher Sean Murphy singled in the tying run for the RockHounds in the loss.

LHP Evan Manarino turned in a strong start for Stockton on Sunday, allowing just 1 run and striking out 5 over 6 innings of work, and he left the game with a three-run lead. RHP Peter Bayer, who was acquired from Tampa Bay in exchange for RHP Wilmer Font, made his first appearance for the Ports and walked 2 batters in the top of the 7th, both of which came around to score, while RHP Angel Duno surrendered the tying run in the 7th. Center fielder Skye Bolt drew a walk and tagged a two-run homer, while third baseman William Toffey singled in a run and drove in another with a sacrifice fly. First baseman Luke Persico doubled in the tying run in the bottom of the 10th, and left fielder Luis Barrera singled in the winning run with two outs in the 10th as Stockton won in a walk-off on Sunday. RHP Miguel Romero picked up the win despite allowing an unearned run in the top of the 10th for the Ports.
