RHP Bryce Conley turned in an impressive start to lead Beloit to a shutout victory in the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader in Cedar Rapids. Conley, who led the Snappers’ no-hit effort in April, allowed just 2 hits while striking out 10 over 6 2/3 scoreless innings to earn his 3rd win on Wednesday. LHP Josh Reagan notched the final out in the bottom of the 7th to complete the two-hit shutout for Beloit. Second baseman Trace Loehr had 3 hits, including a double, drove in a run and stole a base to run his team-leading total to 14, while first baseman Hunter Hargrove singled twice and drove in a run to help the Snappers sweep Wednesday’s doubleheader. In other news, Loehr, outfielder Austin Beck and RHPs Wyatt Marks and Xavier Altamirano were all named to the Midwest League Western Division All-Star squad on Wednesday.

After a couple of shaky outings, RHP James Naile returned to form and delivered an outstanding start to lead the Sounds to victory on Wednesday. Naile allowed just 1 run on 5 hits over 7 innings of work to notch his team-leading 5th win for Nashville. Center fielder Jake Smolinski had a big night at the plate, collecting 3 hits, including a home run and a double, while third baseman Sheldon Neuse also had 3 hits, all singles, and drove in a pair, and catcher Beau Taylor singled, doubled and drove in a run for the Sounds. And with A’s outfielder Matt Joyce landing on the disabled list, Nashville’s Nick Martini was promoted to Oakland, while RHP Edwin Jackson was signed to a minor league contract and assigned to the Sounds on Wednesday.

The RockHounds were shut out on just five hits to lose their second straight to San Antonio on Wednesday. LHP Jesus Luzardo turned in a solid start, allowing just 1 run while walking none and striking out 8 over 5 innings of work, but he still ended up being saddled with the loss. Shortstop Richie Martin had a pair of hits for the Hounds in the loss.

RHP Brian Howard delivered another strong start to help the Ports prevail for the seventh time in their last eight games on Wednesday. Howard allowed just 1 run while striking out 7 over 7 innings of work to earn his team-leading 6th win for Stockton. First baseman Luke Persico collected 3 hits, including a double, drew a walk and drove in 3 runs, while center fielder Skye Bolt tripled, walked twice and drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Catcher Jonah Heim had 3 hits and drove in a run, and second baseman Nate Mondou singled, doubled and drove in a pair for the Ports.

RHP Mitchell Jordan turned in another solid start to help the Snappers to win the first game of Wednesday’s doubleheader. Jordan allowed 2 runs over 6 2/3 innings of work but left with the game a 2-2 tie. RHP Jesus Zambrano was charged with 1 unearned run in 1 1/3 innings of relief but was still able to pick up his 5th win for the Snappers on Wednesday. Right fielder Jack Meggs tripled and scored a run, while left fielder Logan Farrar and catcher Jordan Devencenzi both doubled in runs for Beloit.
