Shortstop Franklin Barreto’s big day helped lead to the Sounds to a come-from-behind victory in extra innings on Sunday. In his first game since being sent down from Oakland, Barreto notched a season-high 4 hits for Nashville. The 22-year-old doubled and scored the Sounds’ first run in the 4th inning and then slugged his 7th home run to tie the game with two outs in the top of the 8th. Left fielder Anthony Garcia had 2 hits, drew a walk and drove in the winning run in the top of the 10th for Nashville. With a shortage of starting pitchers on hand, RHP Bobby Wahl made the start and struck out 4 over 2 scoreless innings of work. RHP Carlos Ramirez allowed 2 runs in 2 innings of relief, while RHP J.B. Wendelken threw 3 shutout frames. LHP Dean Kiekhefer tossed 2 scoreless innings to earn the win, and RHP Raul Alcantara got the final three outs in the bottom of the 10th to notch his 3rd save for Nashville.

First Baseman Seth Brown

First baseman Seth Brown helped the RockHounds win the rubber game of their three-game set with the Naturals to run their record back to an even .500 on Sunday. Brown homered, doubled twice and drove in 3 runs to run his team-leading RBI total to 39, which is good for fifth best in the Texas League. Third baseman Mikey White singled, doubled and drew a pair of walks, while catcher Sean Murphy walked and tripled in a pair of runs for the RockHounds. After struggling in his last outing, RHP Joel Seddon turned in a solid start on Sunday, allowing just 1 run over 6 innings of work to earn his 4th win, while RHP Trey Cochran-Gill tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief to secure the save for Midland.

Stockton was shut out on seven hits to have its five-game winning streak snapped on Sunday. Designated hitter Jonah Heim had 2 hits, including a double, while shortstop Kevin Merrell doubled, and first baseman Luke Persico had a pair of hits for the Ports. Starter Dustin Hurlbutt allowed 5 runs, 4 earned, over 4 frames to take the loss, while LHP Evan Manarino gave up 5 runs in 3 2/3 innings of relief for Stockton.

The Snappers dropped their second straight to Quad Cities on Sunday. After turning in three straight quality starts, RHP Xavier Altamirano had a rare rough outing on Sunday, surrendering 7 runs over 6 innings of work. RHP Nick Highberger gave up 4 runs in just 1/3 of an inning in relief to suffer the loss for the Snappers. Center fielder Austin Beck collected 3 hits, including a double, drew a walk and drove in a run, while left fielder Jack Meggs doubled twice and drove in a run. Second baseman Trace Loehr had 3 hits, including a pair of doubles, and shortstop Nick Allen singled, doubled, walked and drove in 3 runs in the loss. Meanwhile, Beloit outfielder Lazaro Armenteros was placed on the disabled list and infielder Jesus Lage was reassigned to the Snappers from Vermont on Sunday.
