RHP Chris Bassitt turned in one of his best starts of the season on Tuesday to help the Sounds take their second straight from Colorado Springs and move two games over .500. Bassitt allowed just 1 run while striking out a season-high 7 over 5 frames to earn his 2nd win, while LHP Jeremy Bleich threw 3 scoreless innings in relief, and RHP Bobby Wahl secured his 4th save despite surrendering a single run in the top of the 9th. Shortstop Franklin Barreto walked and scored a run in the 4th and then slugged his 6th home run in the 6th. Second baseman Jorge Mateo tripled, walked and stole a base, while catcher Josh Phegley drew a walk and doubled in a pair of runs for the Sounds.

The RockHounds kicked off their six-game road trip by dropping their fourth straight on Tuesday. Starter Kyle Friedrichs had his best outing since April, allowing just 2 runs over 6 innings of work, but RHP Sam Bragg surrendered 2 runs in the 7th to suffer his 2nd loss for Midland. Shortstop Richie Martin had 2 hits, including a double, while right fielder Tyler Marincov doubled in a run for the RockHounds. Meanwhile, RHP Logan Shore was promoted to Midland from the Ports on Tuesday.

Nate Mondou’s big bat helped the Ports prevail in a one-run game in Rancho Cucamonga on Tuesday night. Mondou slugged a two-run shot to put the Ports on the board in the top of the 3rd, while shortstop Kevin Merrell and third baseman Edwin Diaz had a pair of hits apiece and each drove in a run for the Ports. First baseman Sandber Pimentel went 0 for 3 with a walk and struck out twice in his season debut. Starter Zack Erwin allowed 3 runs over 5 frames to earn his 3rd win, while RHP Angel Duno and Miguel Romero each tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, with Romero notching his 9th save for Stockton. In other news, Ports RHP Logan Shore was reassigned to the RockHounds, while RHP Boomer Biegalski was placed on the disabled list, and RHP Dustin Hurlbutt, LHP Evan Manarino and Pimentel were all assigned to Stockton on Tuesday.

The Snappers were shut out on just three hits on Tuesday. Beloit LHP Ivan Andueza was working on a shutout of his own through much of the game and ended up throwing 6 2/3 scoreless innings, but RHP Jean Ruiz surrendered the sole run of the game in the top of the 9th to suffer his 3rd loss for the Snappers. Catcher Skyler Weber, first baseman Hunter Hargrove and second baseman Trace Loehr collected the Snappers’ three singles in the loss.
