Right fielder Ramon Laureano helped Nashville notch a one-run win in his Triple-A debut on Monday. Laureano, who was acquired from the Astros in the offseason and suffered a broken finger during spring training, was activated just prior to Monday’s match – and the 23-year-old came out swinging. He drove in the Sounds’ first run with a sacrifice fly in his first at-bat in the 2nd inning, singled and scored a run in the 4th, and then homered with two outs in the 6th to provide what would prove to be the winning run for Nashville. Third baseman Sheldon Neuse drew a walk and doubled in a run, while shortstop Jorge Mateo singled twice, stole a base and drove in a pair for the Sounds. Monday’s scheduled starter, RHP Daniel Gossett, was scratched and is expected to rejoin the A’s rotation this week. So, RHP Matt Milburn was promoted from the Ports to make Monday’s start. The 24-year-old held the Sky Sox scoreless through the first 4 frames but struggled in the 5th and ended up allowing 3 runs over 4 1/3 innings of work in his Triple-A debut. RHP J.B. Wendelken earned the win after tossing 2 scoreless innings in relief, and RHP Bobby Wahl picked up the save despite allowing his first earned run since April in the top of the 9th. Laureano and Milburn weren’t the only recent additions to the Sounds roster. RHP Carlos Ramirez, who was recently claimed off waivers by the A’s, was assigned to the Sounds, while catcher Dustin Garneau was designated for assignment, and catcher Josh Phegley was sent back to the Sounds on Monday.

The RockHounds lost their third straight on Monday to see their record fall to two games under .500. Starter Norge Ruiz allowed 4 runs over 6 frames to suffer his 5th loss for Midland. First baseman Seth Brown slugged his 6th home run to tie him for the team lead with infielder Mikey White, while center fielder J.P. Sportman singled twice and stole a base, and third baseman Eli White and right fielder Tyler Marincov both doubled in runs for the RockHounds.

The Snappers shut out Peoria on seven hits to win their third straight on Monday. Starter Mitchell Jordan was solid, throwing 4 2/3 shutout frames, and he’s now failed to allow a run in his last two appearances to lower his ERA to 1.46. LHP Ty Damron tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win, and RHP Seth Martinez pitched 2 perfect innings to close out the shutout and secure his 2nd save for the Snappers. Left fielder Logan Farrar launched his team-leading 4th home run to put Beloit on the board in the bottom of the 2nd, while right fielder Jack Meggs doubled and scored the Snappers’ only other run on third baseman Jesus Lopez‘s RBI single in the bottom of the 3rd.
