The Snappers clinched a walk-off win in 11 innings on Saturday. RHP Xavier Altamirano turned in another outstanding start, allowing just 2 hits while throwing 7 shutout innings to lower his ERA to 3.05, a team-best among Beloit starters. Altamirano left with the lead, but RHP Nick Highberger was charged with 3 runs in the 8th to surrender the advantage. Second baseman Trace Loehr singled twice, drew 3 walks and swiped a pair of bases, while third baseman Jesus Lopez drew a walk and doubled in the Snappers’ first run in the 5th inning. Right fielder Mickey McDonald had 2 hits and drove in a run in the 7th, catcher Jordan Devencenzi doubled in the tying run in the bottom of the 8th, and shortstop Nick Allen singled, walked and drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 11th as Beloit won in a walk-off. RHP Jesus Zambrano threw 3 2/3 scoreless innings in relief to pick up his 4th win for the Snappers.

Sounds batters struck out a season-high 16 times as Nashville went down to defeat to Oklahoma City on Saturday. RHP James Naile recorded his second straight quality start, allowing 3 runs, just 1 earned, on 5 hits over 7 innings of work, but he still ended up being saddled with his 4th loss for the Sounds. Center fielder Jake Smolinski slugged a two-run homer in the 7th inning to account for all of the Sounds’ scoring in the loss. And with LHP Brett Anderson landing on the disabled list for Oakland, RHP Ryan Dull was recalled by the A’s, and LHP Dean Kiekhefer and RHP Joseph Camacho were both assigned to Nashville on Saturday.

The RockHounds fell for the fourth time in the last five games to see their record fall back to .500 on Saturday. LHP Jesus Luzardo turned in a strong start though, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits while striking out 8 over 5 frames. RHP Trey Cochran-Gill threw 3 scoreless innings in relief, but LHP Jarret Martin suffered the loss when he hit a batter with the bases loaded in the top of the 9th. Catcher Sean Murphy doubled and scored a run, while right fielder Tyler Marincov singled and stole a base, and first baseman Seth Brown and second baseman J.P. Sportman both singled in runs for the RockHounds.

Pitcher Brendan Butler

After winning two-straight one-run games, Stockton suffered the loss in a one-run match on Saturday. Starter Parker Dunshee gave up 1 run on 2 hits and 4 walks while throwing a total of 91 pitches in just 4 innings of work. RHP Brendan Butler was solid in relief, allowing 1 run and striking out 7 over 4 frames. Third baseman Brallan Perez had 3 hits, including a double, while designated hitter Jason Goldstein singled and doubled, and right fielder Dairon Blanco had a pair of hits and drove in the sole run for Stockton in the loss.
