The RockHounds won their final home game of the regular season to snap their six-game losing streak and reduce their magic number for a playoff berth to three with just three games remaining. Shortstop Jorge Mateo had another big night at the plate, collecting 4 hits, including a triple, while scoring 4 runs, driving in a pair and swiping a base. It was the 22-year-old’s 18th triple and 52nd stolen base of the season, and Mateo is now hitting .450 over his last 4 games for Midland. Center fielder B.J. Boyd drove in 4 runs while notching 3 hits, including a pair of doubles, to take back the Texas League batting lead by raising his average to a robust .329. First baseman Viosergy Rosa walked, singled in a run and slugged a 3-run homer to extend his league-leading RBI total to 110, while designated hitter Jermaine Curtis walked, singled twice and doubled in a run for the RockHounds. RHP James Naile turned in his third straight quality start, allowing just 2 unearned runs and striking out 5 over 6 frames to earn his 2nd win of the season on Friday.

Nashville notched a one-run win to snap its three-game skid on Friday. RHP Ben Bracewell turned in his third straight strong start for the Sounds, allowing just 1 run while striking out 5 over 5 frames, and he’s now allowed just 1 earned run in 18 innings over his last 3 starts for Nashville. LHP Patrick Schuster pitched 1 perfect inning in relief to pick up the win, while RHP Lou Trivino got the final three outs in the 9th to notch his 3rd save for the Sounds. First baseman Chris Carter walked, singled and doubled in a run, while third baseman Joey Wendle doubled and singled in the winning run in the 8th inning for Nashville. Left fielder Renato Nunez walked, tripled and scored the winning run, and shortstop Yairo Munoz singled to run his hitting streak to 8 games for the Sounds. And with major league rosters expanding in September, the A’s promoted Nashville shortstop Franklin Barreto and LHP Sam Moll and activated catcher Josh Phegley and Jake Smolinski from the disabled list to end their rehab assignments with the Sounds. Meanwhile, Nashville activated RHP Jesse Hahn from the disabled list on Friday.

After scoring 22 runs on Thursday night, the Ports put 12 runs on the board on Friday to win their third straight. LHP Evan Manarino had an outstanding start, allowing just 1 run over 6 innings of work to earn his 7th win for Stockton. First baseman Seth Brown singled and homered for the second straight night, tagging a 2-run shot to take over the league lead with 28 and extend his league-leading RBI total to 106. Designated hitter Mikey White walked, doubled twice and drove in 3 runs, while shortstop Eli White had 3 hits and scored 3 times, and third baseman Branden Cogswell singled and drove in 3 runs for Stockton.
