Catcher Josh Phegley had the biggest game of his rehab assignment with the Sounds on Saturday, collecting 3 hits, including a home run and a double, while driving in 3 runs. He homered to put Nashville on the board in the bottom of the 3rd inning, doubled in the tying run and 7th, and then singled in another run in the 9th. But the Sounds still came up a run short to snap their three-game winning streak on Saturday. First baseman Chris Carter slugged his 6th home run, while center fielder Yairo Munoz had 2 hits, including a double, and drove in a run, and second baseman Joey Wendle singled, walked and stole a base. Starter Chris Jensen allowed 5 runs over 5 frames, while RHP Logan Bawcom surrendered 2 runs in 2 innings of relief to suffer the loss for the Sounds.

The RockHounds were shut out on just 4 hits on Saturday. Shortstop Jorge Mateo doubled for the Hounds’ only extra-base hit in the loss. LHP A.J. Puk turned in a solid start, allowing 3 runs while striking out 5 over 6 2/3 frames, but he still ended up suffering his 4th loss for Midland.

Outfielder Skye Bolt

(2 for 4 / Double / 2 Walks / 2 RBIs)

 

Stockton fell to San Jose in a 10-inning walk-off on Saturday. Center fielder Skye Bolt singled, doubled, walked twice and drove in 2 runs, while designated hitter Richie Martin had 2 hits, including a double, drew a walk and drove in a run, and right fielder Seth Brown singled twice, walked and drove in a pair for the Ports. Starter Evan Manarino allowed 2 runs over 4 2/3 innings of work, but LHP Andrew Tomasovich gave up 5 runs in the 9th to tie the game, and RHP Nolan Blackwood surrendered the winning run in the bottom of the 10th to take the loss on Saturday.

The Snappers were shut out on 4 hits to drop their third straight and suffer their eighth loss in their last nine games on Saturday. Left fielder J.C. Rodriguez had a pair of hits, while center fielder Mike Martin doubled for Beloit’s only extra-base hit in the loss. Starter Xavier Altamirano surrendered 6 runs in just 2 2/3 innings of work to suffer his 6th loss for the Snappers.

Right fielder Greg Deichmann singled, walked, stole a base and hit his team-leading 6th home run, but that was all the scoring the Lake Monsters would do as they came up a run short to snap their three-game winning streak on Saturday. Starter Abdiel Mendoza allowed 1 run in just 1 1/3 innings to suffer the loss, and he left the mound with the team trainer in the 2nd inning. RHP Jean Ruiz was solid in relief, allowing just 1 run over 5 1/3 innings of work in the loss.

Prospect Of The Game:

Third Baseman Jake Lumley

(2 for 5 / Double / 2 RBIs)

 

Third baseman Jake Lumley singled, doubled and drove in a pair, while second baseman Marcos Brito had 3 hits, stole a base and drove in a run, and center fielder Austin Beck singled, walked and stole his 7th base for the AZL A’s on Saturday. LHP Kevin Duchene returned from his suspension to make the start and threw 3 shutout innings, while RHP Richard Morban tossed 3 scoreless frames in relief to earn his 2nd win, and LHP Jorge Martinez got the final six outs for the A’s to secure his 2nd save on Saturday.
