The Snappers were shut out on just 2 hits on Saturday, but last year’s 17th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Seth Martinez, turned in one of his best starts of the season. The 22-year-old allowed 1 run on just 3 hits while striking out 6 over 7 innings of work, but he still ended up being saddled with the loss. LHP Ty Damron tossed 1 scoreless inning in relief, and left fielder J.C. Rodriguez and designated hitter Kyle Nowlin both singled as the Snappers suffered their seventh loss in their last eight games on Saturday.

RHP Daniel Mengden allowed 3 runs in 3 innings of work to suffer the loss, while RHP Corey Walter was solid in relief, throwing 3 scoreless frames to keep the Sounds close. But RHP Raul Alcantara gave up 1 run in 2 innings of relief, and the Sounds’ offense remained quiet for the rest of the night on Saturday.

Left fielder Tyler Ramirez collected 4 hits, including a triple, and scored twice, and last year’s 7th-round draft pick for the A’s is now batting .485 over his last 9 games for Midland. RHP James Naile turned in a strong start for the RockHounds, allowing just 2 runs over 6 innings of work, but he still ended up suffering the loss on Saturday.

The Lake Monsters saw their four-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday. This year’s 7th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Parker Dunshee made the start and was solid once again, allowing just 1 hit and striking out 4 while throwing 4 shutout frames to extend his scoreless-innings streak to 31 1/3 for Vermont. RHP Branden Kelliher was charged with 3 runs, just 1 earned, in 2/3 of an inning of relief to suffer the loss. Right fielder Greg Deichmann singled, doubled, walked and drove in a run, while second baseman Jesus Lage had 3 hits, scored twice, drove in a run and stole a base in the loss.
