Designated hitter Chris Carter had a huge night at the plate to lead Nashville to victory on Tuesday. The 30-year-old slugger singled, tripled, homered, walked and drove in 5 runs, including the tying and winning runs in the top of the 8th for the Sounds. Third baseman Renato Nunez singled twice and scored 3 times, while catcher Beau Taylor walked and singled in a run. Starter Ben Bracewell picked up the win despite surrendering 5 runs in 7 innings of work, while RHP Raul Alcantara tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief to secure his 3rd save for the Sounds.

Shortstop Jorge Mateo’s big hit in extra innings helped Midland win in a walk-off on Tuesday. With two on, two out and the game tied in the bottom of the 11th, the 22-year-old stepped to the plate and singled up the middle to drive home the winning run for the RockHounds. Mateo singled twice, walked twice and stole 3 bases in the game, while first baseman Viosergy Rosa had 3 hits and drove in a pair of runs to extend his league-leading RBI total to 97, and third baseman Sheldon Neuse singled, walked twice and scored the winning run in his Double-A debut. Starter A.J. Puk allowed 2 runs and struck out 9 over 5 1/3 frames, while RHP Carlos Navas tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief to record his 3rd win for the RockHounds.

Stockton saw its five-game winning streak come to an end on Tuesday. RHP Norge Ruiz had a rough start, allowing 9 runs, 8 earned, over 3 innings of work to suffer the loss. But first baseman Sandber Pimentel had a big night at the plate for the Ports, collecting 3 hits, including a home run, while also drawing a walk and driving in 3 runs. Third baseman Mikey White walked and homered for the third time in his last five games, while shortstop Eli White doubled twice, walked and drove in a pair for the Ports.

The Snappers were shut out on 7 hits to suffer their fourth straight loss on Tuesday. LHP Kyle Twomey turned in a strong start, allowing just 1 earned run over 5 innings of work, but a botched double play by shortstop Edwin Diaz opened the door for 3 unearned runs to score off the left-hander in the 4th. Twomey also tied a career-high by notching 7 strikeouts in the loss. Catcher Jason Goldstein collected 3 hits, while designated hitter Kyle Nowlin doubled and drew a pair of walks for the Snappers.

17-year-old Dominican shortstop Yerdel Vargas singled, doubled, tripled and drove in a run, while designated hitter Austin Beck walked and hit his 2nd home run, and first baseman Alonzo Medina belted his 1st home run for the A’s on Tuesday. Starter Chris Kohler allowed 1 run over 4 innings of work, while RHP Adam Reuss tossed 2 scoreless frames to pick up the win, and RHP Zack Kelly threw 3 shutout innings to earn the save for the A’s.
In Other News…
Five Vermont Lake Monsters players appeared in the New York-Penn League All-Star Game on Tuesday. Designated hitter Greg Deichmann singled twice, while shortstop Ryan Gridley and catcher Jordan Devencenzi both went 0 for 2, and RHPs Parker Dunshee and Branden Kelliher each threw 1 scoreless inning for the North All-Stars as they fell to the South All-Stars by a score of 5-2 on Tuesday.
