The Ports mounted a late-game comeback to tie things up in the 9th inning and then wound up winning in extra innings to notch their fifth straight victory on Monday. RHP Brendan Butler had a rough start, giving up 5 runs on 9 hits in just 3 2/3 frames, while LHP Evan Manarino allowed 1 run in 3 1/3 innings of relief for Stockton. Catcher Jose Chavez doubled in a pair, while second baseman Nate Mondou singled twice, walked and drove in a run. Third baseman Mikey White singled in a run with two outs in the top of the 9th to tie things up and send the game to extra innings. Then in the top of the 10th, designated hitter Eli White collected his third single of the game and ultimately came around to score the winning run on catcher Argenis Raga‘s RBI single. RHP Armando Ruiz earned the win after tossing scoreless innings in relief, and RHP Nolan Blackwood got the final three outs in the bottom of the 9th to notch his 15th save for Stockton. In other news, Ports infielder Sheldon Neuse was promoted to the RockHounds while Midland infielder Branden Cogswell was reassigned to Stockton on Monday.

Starter Daniel Mengden returned to the mound for Nashville on Monday for the first time since landing on the disabled list with a lat strain back in early June. The 24-year-old allowed 2 runs on 2 hits and 1 walk while striking out 4 and throwing 69 pitches over 4 frames to suffer his 2nd loss for the Sounds. Third baseman Renato Nunez singled, doubled and drove in the Sounds’ sole run in the loss. Meanwhile, Nashville outfielder Kenny Wilson took Mengden’s place on the disabled list on Monday.

Starter Seth Martinez allowed 4 runs in 4 innings of work to suffer his 7th loss for the Snappers on Monday. Center fielder Mike Martin had a big night at the plate, collecting 3 hits, including a home run and a double, while scoring three times. Second baseman Josh Vidales slugged a 2-run homer, and right fielder Luke Persico singled, doubled and drove in 3 runs as the Snappers dropped their third straight.

This year’s 5th-round draft pick for the A’s, catcher Santis Sanchez, singled, doubled and drove in 2 runs, including the winning run, for the AZL A’s on Monday. 3rd-round shortstop Nick Allen had 2 hits and stole a base, while center fielder Austin Beck drew 3 walks and scored a run. Left fielder Lazaro Armenteros singled, walked and stole a base, and first baseman Chris Iriart went 1 for 2 with a walk in his first rehab game for the A’s. Starter Rafael Kelly allowed 2 runs, 1 earned, over 4 1/3 frames, while RHP Heath Donica tossed 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief to earn the win, and RHP Caleb Evans got the final six outs for the A’s to secure his 2nd save.
