Right fielder Seth Brown had a big night at the plate as the Ports won the rubber game of their three-game series with San Jose on Thursday. Brown tripled and scored a run in the 4th inning and then slugged a solo shot in the 6th. The blast was Brown’s team-leading 20th home run of the season. Shortstop Sheldon Neuse singled, homered and drove in a pair of runs for the Ports, and Brown and Neuse have both belted 3 home runs over their last 3 games for Stockton. Starter Ben Bracewell allowed 2 runs, just 1 earned, on 2 hits over 5 innings of work to earn his 2nd win for the Sounds, while RHP Raul Alcantara got the final three outs in the 9th to notch his 1st save for Nashville. Vermont shut out Batavia on just 5 hits as the Lake Monsters won the rubber game of their three-game series on Thursday. Starter Wyatt Marks tossed 3 2/3 scoreless innings, and RHP Parker Dunshee struck out 5 while pitching 3 1/3 perfect frames to pick up the win and extend his scoreless-innings streak to 27 1/3 for Vermont. Designated hitter Jordan Devencenzi singled twice and drove in a run, while catcher Jarrett Costa had a pair of hits, and second baseman Ryan Gridley singled, walked, stole a base and drove in 3 runs for the Lake Monsters. Meanwhile, with Vermont LHP Jhenderson Hurtado and outfielder Jeramiah McCray heading to the AZL A’s, LHP Jesus Luzardo was promoted to the Lake Monsters on Thursday.
