This year’s 33rd-round draft pick for the A’s, first baseman Jake Lumley, had another big night at the plate to help make the AZL A’s the only A’s affiliate to record a win on Wednesday. The 22-year-old out of Canisius College singled and tripled with the bases loaded to drive in 3 runs, and he’s now sporting a .359/.419/.500 slash line over his first 21 pro games for the AZL A’s. Left fielder Ben Spitznagel and designated hitter Lazaro Armenteros each had a pair of hits and drove in a run, and center fielder Austin Beck doubled in a run. Rehabbing RHP Daniel Mengden made the start and struck out 6 while throwing 3 scoreless and hitless innings, and 20-year-old Dominican RHP Rafael Kelly allowed just 1 unearned run in 4 innings of relief to earn his 1st win for the A’s. Meanwhile, LHP Jhenderson Hurtado and outfielder Jeramiah McCray were both reassigned from Vermont to the AZL A’s on Wednesday.

Starter Frankie Montas allowed 4 runs on 5 hits over 4 frames to suffer his 2nd loss for the Sounds on Wednesday. Center fielder Yairo Munoz singled twice, walked and stole a pair of bases, while designated hitter Franklin Barreto doubled but was left stranded, and catcher Ryan Lavarnway singled and drove in a run in his return to the Sounds on Wednesday.

Puk threw 4 scoreless frames to start things off but ended up allowing 3 runs on 7 hits over 5 innings of work, and LHP Brandon Mann was charged with 2 runs in 1/3 of an inning of relief to suffer the loss as the RockHounds fell for the fifth time in their last six games on Wednesday. First baseman Viosergy Rosa doubled and drove in 3 runs to extend his league-leading RBI total to 94, while center fielder B.J. Boyd had 3 hits and scored twice, and shortstop Jorge Mateo and second baseman Max Schrock had a pair of hits apiece for the Hounds.

RHP Brendan Butler had a rough start for Stockton, allowing 8 runs, 3 earned, over just 1 2/3 innings of work to suffer the loss as the Ports fell for the fifth time in their last six games on Wednesday. Shortstop Eli White slugged a 3-run homer, while catcher Argenis Raga doubled, and right fielder Seth Brown walked and singled in a run for Stockton.

The Lake Monsters were shut out on just 4 hits on Wednesday. Center fielder James Terrell had a pair of hits, and right fielder Greg Deichmann and designated hitter Logan Farrar both singled in the loss. 21-year-old Venezuelan RHP Argenis Blanco turned in a solid start, allowing just 2 runs over 6 innings of work, but he still ended up suffering his 5th loss for the Lake Monsters on Wednesday.
