In the completion of a game that was suspended in the 1st inning on Saturday, last week’s Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week, RHP Daniel Gossett, turned in another impressive performance for the Sounds, allowing just 2 hits while walking none and striking out 8 over 6 shutout innings to earn his 3rd win for Nashville. Gossett threw the 1st inning of the game on Saturday and finished up with the other 5 frames on Tuesday to extend his scoreless-innings streak to 14. First baseman Matt Olson singled, walked and hit his 12th home run, while center fielder Ryan LaMarre singled, doubled, walked and drove in 2 runs. Second baseman Joey Wendle singled twice and stole a base, and catcher Matt McBride doubled, drew a pair of walks and drove in a pair to help the Sounds win the first game of Tuesday’s doubleheader. In other news, RHP Raul Alcantara, who last pitched in Thursday’s game, was placed on the disabled list on Tuesday.

The Sounds won Tuesday’s second game with just 3 hits, and third baseman Renato Nunez had 2 of them. Nunez led off the bottom of the 5th inning by belting his team-leading 13th home run to tie the game, and he also singled but was left stranded in the 6th, while left fielder Chris Parmelee singled in the go-ahead run in the 5th. Starter Joel Seddon allowed 1 run on 5 hits and 3 walks while striking out 5 over 4 frames in his Triple-A debut on Tuesday. RHP Tyler Sturdevant tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win, while RHP Jake Sanchez got the final three outs to earn his 1st save for the Sounds.

RHP Grant Holmes had a rough start for the RockHounds, allowing 7 runs, 6 earned, over 5 1/3 innings to suffer his 5th loss as Midland dropped its fourth straight on Tuesday. Second baseman Max Schrock collected 4 hits, including a double, and drove in 2 runs, while Yairo Munoz doubled, singled twice and scored twice, and shortstop Richie Martin was hit in the helmet with a pitch and had to leave the game in the 2nd inning. Meanwhile, LHP Evan Manarino is set to make his Double-A debut when he takes the mound for Midland on Wednesday.

LHP Dalton Sawyer turned in another solid start for the Snappers on Tuesday, striking out 8 while allowing 2 runs over 5 innings of work, and he now leads the team with 58 strikeouts in 50 frames. RHP Heath Bowers had a rare rough outing, giving up 5 runs, 4 earned, in 2 2/3 innings of relief. Center fielder Luis Barrera doubled twice and drove in a pair, while second baseman Nate Mondou had 3 hits, including a double, and drove in a run. Third baseman Eric Marinez singled twice and drove in 2 runs, including the winning run, in the bottom of the 9th as the Snappers won in a walk-off, and RHP Yordys Alejo picked up the win after getting the final four outs for Beloit on Tuesday.
