LHP Evan Manarino turned in his second straight impressive start for Stockton on Thursday, putting up 6 strikeouts over 7 shutout innings to post his 4th win for the Ports. The 24-year-old southern California native has now failed to allow a run or a walk in 13 innings over his last 2 starts for Stockton. And in his first appearance since returning to the Ports from the RockHounds, LHP Cody Stull pitched 2 perfect innings in relief to complete the 6-hit shutout as Stockton prevailed for the fifth time in its last six games on Thursday. Left fielder Tyler Ramirez had a big night at the plate for the Ports. Last year’s 7th-round draft pick provided all the offense his team would need with a pair of solo shots, one in the 4th inning and one in the 9th, to give him a total of 5 round-trippers on the season, and catcher Sean Murphy collected 3 hits, including a double, for Stockton. Meanwhile, after making a pair of relief appearances for the Ports, RHP Chris Jensen was reassigned to the RockHounds on Thursday.

Third baseman Matt Chapman homered for the third time in the last four days on Thursday. The 24-year-old also singled and walked in the game and is hitting .350 over his last 5 games for the Sounds. Second baseman Joey Wendle hit his 5th home run, while first baseman Matt Olson had a pair of singles, and right fielder Jaycob Brugman and shortstop Franklin Barreto both doubled as the Sounds had their four-game winning streak snapped on Thursday. RHP Raul Alcantara made the start and surrendered 3 runs over 4 innings of work to suffer his 2nd loss, while LHP Felix Doubront allowed 3 runs, 1 earned, in 1 inning of relief in his first appearance since returning from Tommy John surgery. And with Zach Neal joining the A’s, RHPs Corey Walter and Jake Sanchez were reassigned to the Sounds from the RockHounds on Thursday.

Right fielder Tyler Marincov continued his hot hitting on Thursday, contributing a home run and a triple while driving in 5 runs to help the RockHounds win for the fourth time in their last five games. The 25-year-old outfielder has gone 4 for 9 with 2 doubles, a triple and a home run while driving in 7 runs in his last two games for Midland. Second baseman Yairo Munoz singled, doubled, drove in a run, stole a base and scored twice in the win. RHP Grant Holmes had his best start of the season for the Hounds, allowing just 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 6 over 6 innings of work to earn his 3rd win, while RHP Kyle Friedrichs threw 3 scoreless innings in relief to record his 1st save for the RockHounds. Meanwhile, Midland RHPs Corey Walter and Jake Sanchez were reassigned to the Sounds, and RHP Chris Jensen was added to the RockHounds roster on Thursday.

Left fielder Luke Persico turned in another big game for Beloit on Thursday. Last year’s 12th-round draft pick for the A’s singled twice and doubled twice while driving in 5 runs for the Snappers. Center fielder Luis Barrera slugged a solo shot to put Beloit on the board in the bottom of the 1st, while first baseman Miguel Mercedes belted a 3-run blast in the 8th, and second baseman Nate Mondou singled twice, walked, doubled and drove in a pair for the Snappers. LHP Dalton Sawyer delivered another strong start on Thursday, allowing 2 runs and striking out 7 over 6 innings of work to earn his 4th win, while RHP Seth Martinez threw 3 scoreless innings in relief to post his 1st save for the Snappers.
