Since returning from the disabled list on May 2, outfielder Jaycob Brugman has put up an impressive .395/.469/.512 slash line for the Sounds, and he continued his hot hitting on Tuesday. Brugman collected a total of 4 hits, including his 1st home run of the season, while driving in 4 runs to help Nashville win its second straight at Fresno. Third baseman Matt Chapman singled, walked and hit his 6th home run, a 2-out solo shot in the 2nd to put the Sounds on the board, while first baseman Matt Olson notched his 9th home run, a 3-run shot, to tie him with Renato Nunez for the team lead. RHP Jharel Cotton picked up the win in his first start since being sent back to the Sounds. Cotton allowed 4 runs, 3 earned, on 6 hits while walking none and striking out 4 over 5 frames, and all the runs that scored off him on Tuesday came courtesy of two home runs. Meanwhile, RHP John Axford struck out 3 while throwing 1 1/3 scoreless innings in his second rehab appearance for the Sounds.

On Tuesday, infielder Yairo Munoz finally broke out and had his first big game since returning from the disabled list on May 3. Munoz singled to drive in the RockHounds’ first run in the top of the 1st, and then slugged his 1st home run of the season, a 3-run-shot, in the Hounds’ 6-run 6th. First baseman Viosergy Rosa singled, hit his 6th home run, also in the 6th, and drove in 3 runs, while right fielder J.P. Sportman singled, walked and homered, and second baseman Max Schrock and third baseman Jordan Tarsovich had a pair of hits apiece for the Hounds. Starter Heath Fillmyer allowed 4 runs over 5 innings of work and picked up his 1st win of the season, while RHP Sam Bragg and Lou Trivino both tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief to close out the win for the RockHounds.

With two outs, the bases loaded and his team down by a run in the bottom of the 9th, second baseman Josh Vidales stepped to the plate and singled in a pair of runs to help the Ports win in a walk-off and snap their eight-game losing streak on Tuesday. Vidales had also singled in a pair in the 3rd to provide the Ports’ only other runs on the night. Stockton starter Boomer Biegalski threw 3 scoreless innings, despite walking 3, while his tandem-pitching partner, RHP Dustin Hurlbutt, allowed 3 runs over 5 innings of work, and RHP Matt Sergey returned from the disabled list to pitch a perfect 9th and pick up his 1st win of the season for the Ports.

The Snappers lost 11-3 in the completion of Monday’s suspended game on Tuesday. RHP Jesus Zambrano started the game on Monday and ended up being charged with 3 runs in just 1/3 of an inning of work. RHP Seth Martinez, last year’s 17th-round draft pick for the A’s, picked things up on Tuesday and allowed 2 runs, 1 earned, over 3 1/3 innings to suffer the loss in his Snappers debut. Center fielder JaVon Shelby singled, doubled, walked and drove in a pair of runs in the loss.

Second baseman Nate Mondou collected 3 hits, including a double, to raise his team-best batting average to .333, while driving in a pair of runs, including the winning run, in Tuesday’s second game at Beloit. Catcher Jason Goldstein doubled, walked and drove in 3 runs, while right fielder JaVon Shelby had a pair of hits and scored the tying run for the Snappers. Starter Brendan Butler allowed 2 unearned runs while striking out 7 over 4 2/3 frames, and RHP Heath Bowers tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief to pick up his 3rd win for Beloit.
