Shortstop Yairo Munoz homered for the second straight day and reached base 4 times to help the RockHounds win their fourth straight on Wednesday. Munoz tagged a 2-run homer in the 1st inning to give the Hounds an early lead they would never relinquish. The 21-year-old also doubled and drew a pair of walks in the game. Left fielder J.P. Sportman homered, doubled and drove in 3 runs, while right fielder Tyler Marincov singled, homered, walked twice and drove in 2, and second baseman Max Schrock singled twice and drove in a pair in his Double-A debut. Starter Brandon Mann allowed 3 runs and struck out 10 over 6 innings of work to earn the win, while RHP Jake Sanchez tossed a scoreless 9th to notch his 8th save on Wednesday. Along with Schrock, RHP James Naile was also promoted to Midland from the Ports on Wednesday, while shortstop Franklin Barreto and RHP Chris Jensen were both reassigned from the RockHounds to the Sounds. Barreto, catcher Beau Taylor and third baseman Matt Chapman were all named to the Texas League Postseason All-Star Team on Wednesday. Chapman was also named the Texas League Player of the Year, and Midland manager Ryan Christenson was named the Texas League Manager of the Year. And after clinching a playoff berth for the third straight season on Tuesday, the Hounds are now set to begin postseason play on Wednesday, September 7 at Corpus Christi.

Rehabbing RHP Jesse Hahn had a rough start on Wednesday, allowing 7 runs on 11 hits in just 3 2/3 innings to suffer his 7th loss for the Sounds. Third baseman Matt Chapman homered for the second straight day to provide Nashville’s only run, while shortstop Franklin Barreto went 0 for 4 in his Triple-A debut. Sounds second baseman Joey Wendle was promoted to Oakland and went 0 for 4 in his major league debut on Wednesday. And along with Barreto, RHP Chris Jensen was reassigned to the Sounds as well.

With a man on, one out and Stockton down by a run in the bottom of the 9th, catcher Argenis Raga stepped to the plate and slugged a 2-run homer to give the Ports the walk-off win on Wednesday. Designated hitter Chris Iriart singled and doubled, while left fielder John Nogowski walked and doubled in a run, and center fielder Arismendy Alcantara singled in a run in his Stockton debut. RHP Kyle Friedrichs turned in a strong start, allowing 2 runs, just 1 earned, while striking out 5 in 5 innings of work, while RHP Mitchell Jordan, who recently joined the squad from the AZL A’s, was solid in relief, allowing just 1 run over 4 innings to earn the win in his California League debut.

Starter Brendan Butler allowed 3 runs over 5 innings of work to suffer his 5th loss for the Snappers, while RHP Jordan Schwartz surrendered another 5 runs, 4 earned, in 1 inning of relief on Wednesday. Second baseman Trent Gilbert had 3 hits, including a pair of doubles, and drove in all 4 of Beloit’s runs in the loss.

With two outs, a man on and the game tied in the bottom of the 6th inning, designated hitter JaVon Shelby slugged a 2-run homer to provide the margin of victory for Vermont on Wednesday. Starter Heath Bowers allowed 3 runs over 6 innings of work to earn his 3rd win, while LHP Ty Damron pitched 2 perfect innings in relief, and LHP Dalton Sawyer tossed a scoreless 9th to notch his 3rd save for the Lake Monsters.
In Other News…
Arizona Fall League rosters were announced on Wednesday, and the A’s have four pitchers and three position players on the Mesa Solar Sox squad. Third baseman Matt Chapman, shortstop Franklin Barreto and infielder Yairo Munoz will be joined by RHPs Frankie Montas, Dylan Covey, Sam Bragg and Trey Cochran-Gill, and the team will be piloted by Midland manager Ryan Christenson. The Solar Sox are set to begin play in Arizona on October 11.
