After RHP Daniel Mengden threw 5 scoreless innings to lead Nashville to a shutout victory on Tuesday, RHP Raul Alcantara tossed 5 scoreless frames to lead the Sounds to their second straight shutout win on Wednesday. Alcantara allowed just 4 hits without allowing a walk, while RHPs Ryan Brasier, Eduard Santos and Bobby Wahl combined to throw 4 scoreless innings in relief to complete the 6-hit shutout, with Wahl picking up his 3rd save for the Sounds. Left fielder Renato Nunez homered for the second straight day, ripping his 23rd round-tripper, while catcher Matt McBride and center fielder Jaycob Brugman both walked and doubled in runs to help the Sounds win their fifth straight. And with Oakland shortstop Marcus Semien going on paternity leave, Nashville RHP J.B. Wendelken was recalled by the A’s on Wednesday.

RHP Kyle Friedrichs turned in a solid start for Stockton on Wednesday, tossing 6 shutout innings before allowing 2 runs in the 7th then exiting with two outs in the frame and the game tied. Right fielder Justin Higley doubled in the winning run with two outs in the top of the 8th. Higley also also singled and walked in his second game since his promotion to the Ports, while third baseman Jose Brizuela belted his 15th home run for Stockton. LHP Jared Lyons threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings to the earn the win in his first appearance for the Ports, while LHP Cody Stull got the final three outs to post his 6th save for Stockon.

Third baseman Trace Loehr singled, doubled, walked twice, scored twice, swiped a pair of bases and drove in a run to help the Snappers snap their four-game losing streak on Wednesday. Second baseman Trent Gilbert singled, doubled and drove in a pair of runs, including the tying run in the 7th, while designated hitter Michael Soto doubled and singled in the winning run in the 8th for the Snappers. Starter Boomer Biegalski allowed 5 runs over 6 2/3 innings and left the game with his team down by a run, while RHP Nolan Blackwood tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief to earn his 1st win for the Snappers.

This year’s 2nd-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Logan Shore, allowed 1 run over 3 innings of work and left with the game tied on Wednesday. 6th-round RHP Brandon Bailey was solid in relief, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits while walking none and striking out 9 over 5 innings to earn his 1st victory for Vermont. LHP Ty Damron pitched a perfect 9th to notch his 1st save for the Lake Monsters. Right fielder Tyler Ramirez homered and singled in a run to help lead Vermont to victory on Wednesday.

This year’s second overall draft pick for the A’s, RHP Daulton Jefferies, threw 3 scoreless innings to get things off to a good start, while RHP Oscar Tovar allowed 2 unearned runs in 5 innings of relief to earn his 3rd win on Wednesday. Catcher Roger Gonzalez slugged a 2-run homer in the 6th to tie the game and also singled and scored in the 8th, while designated hitter Miguel Guzman singled in the winning run in the 7th, and right fielder Anthony Churlin had a pair of hits and drove in a run for the A’s.
