LHP Ross Detwiler turned in an impressive start for the Sounds on Saturday, allowing just 4 hits while walking none and striking out 7 over 6 1/3 shutout innings to earn his 3rd win for Nashville. RHP Ryan Brasier tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief, and RHP Tucker Healy got the final three outs in the 9th to complete the 6-hit shutout and notch his 7th save for the Sounds. Third baseman Renato Nunez belted his team-leading 17th home run, while shortstop Chad Pinder ripped his 14th round-tripper, and he’s second only to Nunez in that category for the Sounds this season. LHP Dillon Overton was promoted to the A’s to make Saturday’s start for Oakland, while the A’s traded Nashville outfielder Billy Burns to Kansas City in return for outfielder Brett Eibner, who was assigned to the Sounds on Saturday.

RHP Joel Seddon had his first shaky start in the last month on Saturday, allowing 5 runs, 4 earned, over 5 1/3 innings of work, but he still ended up walking away with his 6th win for the RockHounds. RHP Sam Bragg tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief, while RHP Kyle Finnegan pitched a perfect 9th to pick up his 3rd save for Midland. Right fielder Tyler Marincov tagged a 2-run homer in the top of the 5th inning to give the RockHounds the lead, while left fielder Josh Rodriguez added a 2-run shot of his own in the 6th. Third baseman Matt Chapman drew a pair of walks, doubled in a run and drove in another with a sacrifice fly, and catcher Andy Paz contributed 3 hits, including a double, stole a base and scored 3 times in the win.

Starter Casey Meisner allowed 3 runs over 5 innings of work and left the game with his team in a 3-run hole on Saturday. But first baseman John Nogowski stepped to the plate in the 6th inning with two men on and two outs and smashed a 3-run homer to tie the game for Stockton. The Ports then ended up pushing the winning run across the plate in the 8th on a bases loaded ground out by second baseman Mikey White. RHP Matt Sergey tossed 4 scoreless and hitless innings in relief to pick up his 1st win for the Ports.

RHP Brendan Butler turned in a strong start for the Snappers, allowing 2 runs and striking out 7 over 7 innings of work, but he still ended up suffering the loss on Saturday. Second baseman Trent Gilbert and designated hitter Chris Iriart each singled as the Snappers lost their fourth straight on Saturday.

21-year-old Venezuelan LHP Ivan Andueza was solid on Saturday, allowing just 1 run over 5 innings of work to earn his 2nd win, while LHP Tyler Painton tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, and LHP Dalton Sawyer got the final six outs for his 2nd save. Designated hitter Eli White had 3 hits, including a double, and drove in a run as the Lake Monsters snapped their six-game losing streak on Saturday.
ARIZONA LEAGUE (Rookie Short-Season)

This year’s 24th-round draft pick for the A’s, left fielder Rob Bennie, singled, doubled, stole a base and drove in 3 runs to lead the AZL A’s to victory on Saturday, and Bennie is now batting .343 for the season. This year’s 10th-round pick, RHP Mitchell Jordan, allowed 1 run and struck out 5 in 3 innings of work, while 19-year-old Dominican RHP Wandisson Charles picked up the win despite giving up 2 runs in 3 2/3 innings of relief, and RHP Joseph Camacho pitched a perfect 9th to post his 2nd save for the A’s.
