RHP Joel Seddon turned in his fifth straight quality start on Tuesday, allowing 2 runs, just 1 earned, over 7 innings of work to earn his 4th win for the RockHounds. And Seddon has now given up just 4 earned runs in 34 innings over his last 5 starts for Midland. A number of hitters had big nights for the Hounds. Third baseman Matt Chapman led Tuesday’s attack, collecting 4 hits, including 3 doubles, and driving in 4 runs, while shortstop Yairo Munoz had 3 hits and drove in 3, and right fielder Tyler Marincov singled, doubled twice and drove in a pair of runs for the RockHounds.

With LHP Dillon Overton called up to Oakland, LHP Brandon Mann was promoted to make the start for the Sounds on Tuesday and allowed 5 runs over 5 innings of work in his Triple-A debut. But RHP Tucker Healy gave up 2 runs in 1 inning of relief to take the loss in the first game of Tuesday’s doubleheader. Catcher Bryan Anderson homered to put Nashville on the board in the top of the 3rd inning, while second baseman Joey Wendle tripled in the tying run in the top of the 6th, and designated hitter Colin Walsh had a pair of hits and drove in a run in the loss. In addition to Overton’s promotion to Oakland and Mann’s elevation to Nashville, LHP Daniel Coulombe was recalled by the A’s, and Tyler Ladendorf was optioned backed to the Sounds on Tuesday.

Starter Angel Castro allowed 3 runs over 2 2/3 innings of work to suffer his 7th loss as the Sounds were swept in Tuesday’s doubleheader. Second baseman Joey Wendle singled and smacked his 10th home run to put Nashville on the board in the top of the 2nd inning, while catcher Bruce Maxwell also hit his 10th home run, and shortstop Chad Pinder slugged his 13th to tie him for the team lead with third baseman Renato Nunez. Center fielder Billy Burns went 0 for 4 in the second game of the twinbill and went 1 for 8 on Tuesday in his first day back for the Sounds.

It appeared to be a much-improved version of Casey Meisner who returned to Stockton’s starting rotation on Tuesday, allowing just 1 hit while striking out 5 over 4 1/3 shutout innings, and he left the game with a 1-run lead. But RHP Joey Wagman allowed 2 runs in 1 2/3 innings of relief, and LHP Cody Stull gave up 1 run in 2 innings of work. Third baseman Melvin Mercedes tripled in 2 runs to tie the game in the bottom of the 7th inning, and it remained tied until pinch hitter John Nogowski walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 11th as Stockton won in a walk-off on Tuesday. RHP Carlos Navas tossed a scoreless 10th and 11th to pick up the win for the Ports.

Starter Brendan Butler was solid on Tuesday, allowing 1 run on just 2 hits while walking none and striking out 5 over 5 innings of work to earn his 2nd win for the Lake Monsters. This year’s 6th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Brandon Bailey, pitched 3 perfect innings in relief, and 14th-round RHP Nolan Blackwood picked up his 4th save despite allowing 1 run in the bottom of the 9th for Vermont. Catcher Brett Sunde singled, doubled and drove in a pair, while third baseman JaVon Shelby doubled twice and scored twice for the Lake Monsters.

Promising 18-year-old Venezuelan RHP Oscar Tovar turned in an impressive outing for the AZL A’s, allowing just 1 hit while striking out 5 over 5 shutout innings to earn his 1st win on Tuesday. Second baseman Josh Vidales singled, doubled, walked and drove in 3, while first baseman Robert Mullen had a pair of hits and drove in a run for the A’s.
