RHP Heath Bowers, last year’s 24th-round draft pick for the A’s, turned in another outstanding start for the Lake Monsters on Friday, allowing just 1 unearned run on 2 hits over 6 innings of work to earn his 2nd win, and he’s now given up just 3 earned runs over 26 innings for Vermont this season. RHP Marc Berube tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, while RHP Nolan Blackwood pitched a perfect 9th to notch his 2nd save. First baseman Miguel Mercedes belted a 2-run homer, while second baseman Eric Marinez singled in a pair of runs, and shortstop Eli White singled twice and walked in the win.

RHP Zach Neal had a shaky start for the Sounds on Friday, allowing 5 runs, 4 earned, over 5 innings of work to suffer his 2nd loss in a game that ended after 6 innings due to rain. First baseman Rangel Ravelo homered for Nashville’s only run, while shortstop Arismendy Alcantara doubled, and catcher Bruce Maxwell had a pair of singles as the Sounds dropped their third straight on Friday.

RHP Joel Seddon turned in his third straight quality start for the RockHounds on Friday, allowing 2 runs over 6 innings of work, but he still ended up suffering his 7th loss for Midland. Third baseman Matt Chapman tripled in a pair of runs, while second baseman Franklin Barreto singled, doubled and scored twice, and let fielder J.P. Sportman singled twice and drove in a run for the RockHounds.

Stockton starter Kyle Friedrichs allowed 3 runs over 5 innings of work and left the game with a 2-run lead on Friday. But a fielding error by first baseman Sandber Pimentel opened the door to a big inning in the bottom of the 7th. RHP Joey Wagman was charged with 6 runs, just 1 earned, and suffered the loss for Stockton. Center fielder James Harris had 3 hits, including a 2-run homer, and stole his 17th base, while left fielder B.J. Boyd tripled in a run, and catcher Iolana Akau had 2 hits and drove in a pair for the Ports.

The Snappers were shut out on just 5 hits on Friday. LHP Evan Manarino allowed 3 runs over 6 innings of work to suffer his 4th loss. Second baseman Trent Gilbert doubled for Beloit’s only extra-base hit of the game and also stole a base, while third baseman Ryan Howell singled and drew a pair of walks for the Snappers. Meanwhile, first baseman Michael Soto was placed on the disabled on Friday.

18-year-old Venezuelan RHP Oscar Tovar allowed 3 runs over 5 innings of work to take the loss in his Arizona League debut on Friday. This year’s 28th-round draft pick for the A’s, second baseman Josh Vidales, collected 3 hits, including a double, and drove in a run, while designated hitter Robert Martinez singled, doubled and scored a run, and catcher Skyler Weber had a pair of singles in the loss.
