After finishing the first half 16 games under .500, Stockton has come out swinging in the second half. And on Sunday, they claimed their third win in their first four games since the California League All-Star break. Third baseman Jose Brizuela led the attack, collecting 3 hits, including his 6th home run, driving in 3 runs and notching his 1st stolen base of the season. Catcher Argenis Raga also had 3 hits, including a double, as well as a walk and drove in 2 runs, while center fielder James Harris walked twice and tripled, and left fielder B.J. Boyd had 2 hits and drove in a pair for the Ports. LHP Zack Erwin gave up 3 runs over 4 2/3 innings of work on Sunday. RHP Koby Gauna picked up the win despite allowing 1 run in 1 1/3 innings of relief, while RHP Carlos Navas tossed a scoreless 9th to post his 5th save for the Ports. Meanwhile, A’s LHP Rich Hill is scheduled to make a rehab start for Stockton against Modesto on Monday.

Third baseman Renato Nunez singled in a run in the 6th inning and then slugged a 2-run homer in the 7th to help lead the Sounds to victory on Sunday. Catcher Bruce Maxwell singled, homered and drove in a pair, while designated hitter Josh Reddick homered and doubled in his fifth rehab game for Nashville. RHP Aaron Kurcz made the spot start for the Sounds and threw 3 2/3 shutout innings before giving way to RHP Ryan Brasier, who allowed just 1 unearned run in 2 1/3 innings of relief to pick up his 5th win on Sunday.

RHP Jake Sanchez pitched 2 perfect frames in relief, while RHP Kyle Finnegan tossed 2 scoreless innings, and RHP Bobby Wahl got the final three outs in the 9th to notch his 1st save and complete the 4-hit shutout for the Hounds. Center fielder J.P. Sportman had a pair of hits and drove in a run for the RockHounds.

Starter Boomer Biegalski allowed 4 runs, just 2 earned, over 6 1/3 innings to suffer his 4th loss for the Snappers on Sunday. Third baseman Edwin Diaz collected 3 hits, including a double, and drove in the Snappers’ only run with a sacrifice fly, while center fielder Skye Bolt also doubled and singled twice. Designated hitter Trent Gilbert tripled and scored, and shortstop Trace Loehr had a pair of hits in the loss.
