LHP Dillon Overton delivered another impressive start for the Sounds, striking out 6 over 7 1/3 shutout innings to earn his 8th win on Monday. Overton has now failed to allow a run in his last 25 1/3 innings and has earned the win in each of his last 7 starts for Nashville. RHP Tucker Healy tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief to complete the 6-hit shutout and post his 4th save for the Sounds. Center fielder Tyler Ladendorf collected 3 hits, including a double, while catcher Bruce Maxwell double in a pair of runs, and Josh Reddick, serving as the designated hitter and batting second, went 0 for 4 and struck out twice in his first rehab appearance with the Sounds. Meanwhile, the A’s optioned LHP Daniel Coulombe back to Nashville on Monday.

RHP Corey Walter turned in another solid start for the RockHounds, allowing just 2 hits over 5 shutout innings, and he left the game with the lead on Monday. But RHP Kris Hall gave up 3 runs in 2 innings of relief to suffer his 2nd loss for Midland. Left fielder J.P. Sportman had 3 hits, including 2 doubles, and drove in a pair of runs for the RockHounds.

Starter Kevin Johnson allowed 4 runs over 4 2/3 innings to take the loss in his first game for Vermont after being reassigned from the Snappers. RHP Yordy Alejo tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, while this year’s 8th-round draft pick, LHP Will Gilbert, pitched 1 1/3 perfect innings in his pro debut, and this year’s 9th-round pick, LHP Dalton Sawyer, gave up 1 run in 1 inning of work in his debut. Third baseman Miguel Mercedes hit his 1st home run, while rehabbing catcher Carson Blair singled, doubled and scored a run. Shortstop Eric Marinez doubled in a run, and left fielder Luis Barrera singled in a run in the loss. Along with Gilbert and Sawyer, RHP Marc Berube was also added to the Lake Monsters roster on Monday.

21-year-old Venezuelan LHP Ivan Andueza allowed just 1 unearned run over 5 innings of work and left with the game a 1-1 tie. But RHP Emerson Nelo gave up 2 runs in 1 inning of relief to take the loss as the AZL A’s dropped their season opener on Monday. This year’s 21st-round draft pick, designated hitter Kyle Nowlin collected 2 doubles and a walk in his pro debut, while this year’s 5th-round pick, third baseman JaVon Shelby, had a pair of singles and drove in a run in his debut. 3rd-round pick, catcher Sean Murphy, went 0 for 3, and 7th-round pick, center fielder Tyler Ramirez, went 0 for 4 with 4 strikeouts in their first game since signing with the A’s. The AZL A’s roster was updated again late Monday and now includes a total of 37 players – 17 active pitchers, 18 active position players and 1 pitcher and 1 position player on the disabled list.
