The Sounds bested the Bees to win their seventh straight on Sunday and Nashville now leads rival Round Rock by 2 ½ games in the Pacific Coast League’s American Southern Division. Right fielder Max Muncy tripled in the Sounds’ first run then came in to score the tying run in the top of the 4th inning. Muncy also singled, doubled and scored another run in the game, while third baseman Renato Nunez singled, doubled and drove in a pair for Nashville. With LHP Eric Surkamp held out of his scheduled start on Sunday so that he can start for Oakland on Tuesday, RHP James Naile was promoted from Beloit to make the start for the Sounds, and the 23-year-old ended up allowing 3 runs over 5 1/3 innings to earn the win in his Triple-A debut.

Starter Corey Walter allowed 5 runs, just 2 earned, in 3 1/3 innings of work to suffer his 2nd loss on Sunday. Catcher Beau Taylor tagged a 2-run homer in the top of the 3rd inning to briefly give Midland an early lead, while first baseman Viosergy Rosa, center fielder Brett Vertigan and designated hitter Wade Kirkland had a pair of hits apiece in the loss. In other news, 2014’s 2nd-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Daniel Gossett, who had a 3.33 ERA in 9 starts for Stockton, was reassigned to the RockHounds on Sunday.

LHP Zack Erwin allowed 3 runs over 5 2/3 innings to earn his 2nd win as Stockton snapped its 3-game losing streak on Sunday. First baseman Sandber Pimentel belted a 2-run homer in Stockton’s 3-run 4th. It was his 8th home run on the season and his 3rd in his last 5 games. Designated hitter Joe Bennie, shortstop Richie Martin and center fielder Seth Brown had a pair of hits apiece for the Ports. And with RHP Kyle Friedrichs promoted to the Ports from the Snappers, Stockton RHP Daniel Gossett was reassigned to the RockHounds on Sunday. Friedrichs, who put up an impressive 1.25 ERA in 10 games for Beloit, is scheduled to make his first start for Stockton on Monday.

Starter Angel Duno had another solid start for the Snappers, allowing 3 runs, just 1 earned, over 7 innings of work, but he still ended up taking the loss on Sunday. Left fielder Brett Siddall smacked his 1st home run, while designated hitter Trent Gilbert singled, doubled and drove in a run in the loss. And with RHP Jesus Zambrano returning from the disabled list, Snappers RHP Kyle Friedrichs was reassigned to Stockton.
