Third baseman Renato Nunez had a pair of doubles on Friday, including one that drove in the winning run in the top of the 8th inning to help Nashville win its fifth straight. And Nunez now has 13 doubles and a team-leading 26 RBIs for the Sounds. Center fielder Jaycob Brugman doubled and scored in the 1st and drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the 3rd, while catcher Bruce Maxwell, second baseman Joey Wendle and shortstop Chad Pinder had a pair of hits apiece for Nashville. Starter Angel Castro allowed 2 runs in 4 innings of work, while LHP Daniel Coulombe tossed 2 scoreless frames in relief, and RHP Ryan Brasier threw 3 shutout innings to earn his 3rd win for the Sounds. With catcher Josh Phegley returning to action for the A’s, catcher/outfielder Matt McBride was optioned back to Nashville and catcher Jordan Devencenzi was reassigned to Beloit.

RHP Joey Wagman turned in his best start for the RockHounds on Friday, allowing just 1 run over 6 1/3 innings to earn his 1st win, while RHP Kyle Finnegan tossed 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief to post his 1st save for Midland. Designated hitter Yairo Munoz had a pair of hits, center fielder Brett Vertigan singled, stole a base and scored twice, and third baseman Matt Chapman and right fielder Tyler Marincov each singled in a run for the RockHounds.

After a total of 40 runs were scored in Stockton’s game against Lancaster on Thursday, just 3 runs crossed the plate in Friday’s game at Lake Elsinore. RHP Heath Fillmyer had a solid start, allowing 3 runs, 2 earned, while striking out 8 over 5 2/3 innings, but he still ended up suffering his 4th loss for the Ports. Stockton was shut out on just 3 hits on Friday. Designated hitter Argenis Raga doubled and walked, while right fielder Seth Brown and second baseman Joe Bennie both singled in the loss.

LHP Evan Manarino turned in another strong start for the Snappers on Friday, tossing 8 shutout innings to earn his 5th win while lowering his ERA to a minsicule 1.12 for the season. RHP Cody Kurz picked up his 6th save despite giving up 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th. First baseman Chris Iriart knocked his 9th home run, a 2-run shot, to put Beloit on the board in the 4th and give him the Midwest League home run lead, while designated hitter Trent Gilbert collected 3 hits, including a pair of doubles, for Beloit. Meanwhile, catcher Jordan Devencenzi was reassigned from the Sounds to the Snappers on Friday.
