With two outs, two on and the game tied in the bottom of the 8th on Tuesday, second baseman Colin Walsh stepped to the plate and singled in the winning run for the RockHounds. Walsh reached base 5 times in the game, on a pair of singles and 3 walks, and he’s now reached base in 17 straight games and currently leads the Texas League with 105 walks and a .442 on-base percentage. Third baseman Ryon Healy singled in the 1st and doubled in a pair in Midland’s 4-run 8th, while catcher Bruce Maxwell had a pair of doubles and drove in a run for the Rockounds. Starter Chris Jensen allowed 3 runs over 7 innings of work and left with his team down by a run. LHP Jeff Urlaub tossed a scoreless 8th to pick up the win, and RHP Brendan McCurry pitched a perfect 9th to notch his 3rd save for the Hounds.

RHP Cody Martin had a solid start for the Sounds, allowing 3 runs, 2 earned, while striking out 4 over 6 innings of work to earn his 3rd win on Tuesday. Catcher Carson Blair hit a 2-run homer in the 5th to give Nashville the lead, while left fielder Tyler Ladendorf singled twice and tripled in a pair, and third baseman Brent Morel had 3 hits and drove in a run for the Sounds.

RHP Casey Meisner, acquired from the Mets in the Tyler Clippard trade, turned in his second straight strong start for Stockton on Tuesday, allowing just 1 run on 3 hits while walking none and striking out 5 over 5 innings of work, and the 20-year-old has now allowed just 1 run on 5 hits and struck out 10 in 10 innings over his last 2 starts for the Ports. RHP Lou Trivino gave up 5 runs, just 2 earned, in 1 inning of relief to take the loss. Catcher Jacob Nottingham collected 3 hits, including a double, and drove in a pair, while outfielder B.J. Boyd had 2 hits, stole a base and drove in a run in the loss.

After six straight shaky starts, RHP Junior Mendez had a solid outing for the Snappers on Tuesday, allowing 2 runs on just 2 hits over 5 innings of work to earn his 4th win, while relievers Jon Massad and Jose Torres both contributed 2 scoreless innings in relief. Right fielder Max Kuhn singled in the tying run in the 5th inning and then hit a 2-run homer in the 7th, while catcher Argenis Raga singled in a pair, and shortstop Mikey White singled, doubled and scored twice for the Snappers.

Starter Angel Duno allowed 5 runs, 3 earned, on 7 hits over 4 innings of work to suffer his 2nd loss for the Lake Monsters, but LHP Tyler Painton pitched 3 perfect innings in relief for Vermont. Shortstop Trace Loehr singled and tripled, while center fielder Steven Pallares doubled, walked and scored a run, and left fielder Brett Siddall and second baseman Jesus Lopez each singled in a run in the loss.
ARIZONA LEAGUE (Rookie Short-Season)

19-year-old Venezuelan RHP Jesus Zambrano started things off by striking out 4 in 2 perfect innings on Tuesday, while RHP Boomer Biegalski followed up by tossing 2 more scoreless frames, but RHP Marc Berube gave up 2 runs in the 8th to tie the game, which ultimately ended up going to extra innings. LHP Victor Veliz allowed just 1 hit while striking out 5 over 3 scoreless innings in the 9th, 10th and 11th and ended up earning his 2nd win when third baseman Miguel Mercedes singled in the winning run in the bottom of the 11th. Outfielder Rodolfo Penalo walked and scored the winning run, while first baseman Shane Conlon singled twice, walked, doubled and drove in a run for the A’s.
