Outfielder B.J. Boyd had a big night at the plate for the Ports, singling in a pair of runs in the 4th inning and belting a 3-run homer in the 8th. First baseman Michael Soto singled and homered, while outfielder Tyler Marincov homered and drove in 3. Designated hitter Jacob Nottingham had 3 hits, including a double, and drove in a run, while shortstop Yairo Munoz and outfielder Brett Vertigan had a pair of hits apiece for the Ports. Starter Raul Alcantara was solid, scattering just 2 hits over 4 scoreless innings of work, while RHP Kyle Finnegan allowed 2 runs, just 1 earned, over 3 1/3 innings to pick up his 7th win for the Ports.

Starter Zach Neal allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, on 10 hits over 6 1/3 innings to take his 8th loss as the Sounds dropped their third straight on Monday. Center fielder Craig Gentry singled, doubled, stole a base and scored the Sounds’ only run of the game on third baseman Tyler Ladendorf’s sacrifice fly in the 3rd inning. Meanwhile, LHP Brad Mills cleared waivers and was outrighted back to Nashville, and RHP Aaron Brooks is expected to make his first start for the Sounds on Tuesday.

Center fielder Rodolfo Penalo singled, tripled twice, scored twice and drove in the tying run in the 5th inning, while catcher Miguel Guzman walked, singled and tripled in a pair, and second baseman Carlos Hiciano and designated hitter Andy Paz had a pair of hits apiece for the A’s. Rehabbing starter Jordan Schwartz tossed 2 scoreless innings to get things started, while RHP Zavier Altamirano allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, in 5 innings of work to pick up his 2nd win, while RHP Dustin Hurlbutt got the final three outs in the 9th to notch his 4th save for the A’s.
