Starter Jake Sanchez allowed just 3 hits while striking out 4 over 6 shutout innings to earn his 9th win for Midland on Monday. And it was the second straight start in which Sanchez has not allowed an earned run over 6 innings of work for the RockHounds. RHP Tucker Healy tossed a scoreless 7th and RHP Ryan Doolittle got the final six outs to complete the 4-hit shutout for the Hounds. Designated hitter Ryon Healy had 2 hits and 2 walks and drove in 2 runs, while right fielder Matt Olson singled, doubled and drove in a run for the RockHounds. Healy was named the Texas League Player of the Week, while LHP Sean Manaea was named the Texas League Pitcher of the Week. Healy went 12 for 27 with 2 doubles and 2 home runs while driving in 9 runs last week. And Manaea struck out 9 in 7 shutout innings to earn the win in his debut for Midland last week after coming over from Kansas City in the Ben Zobrist trade.

With the Sounds down by a run, left fielder Ryan Roberts slugged his 6th home run to tie the game in the top of the 8th on Monday. Roberts also doubled to lead off the 6th but was left stranded. Shortstop Andy Parrino eventually came around to score the winning run in the top of the 9th on right fielder Niuman Romero’s second single of the game. Starter Cody Martin allowed 3 runs over 4 2/3 innings of work, while RHP Aaron Kurcz tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief, and RHP R.J. Alvarez pitched a perfect 8th and 9th to pick up his 3rd win as Nashville nailed down the comeback victory on Monday. With Coco Crisp returning to action for the A’s, outfielder Jake Smolinski was optioned to Nashville. The A’s also recalled RHP Arnold Leon and optioned RHP Dan Otero back to the Sounds, while switch-pitcher Pat Venditte was activated from the disabled list and optioned to Nashville.

RHP Dylan Covey had a rough start for Stockton on Monday and ended up being charged with 6 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks over just 3 innings of work to suffer his 7th loss, while RHP Sam Roberts gave up 4 more runs in 2 innings of relief. Catcher Jacob Nottingham hit a 2-run homer, his first for Stockton, in the top of the 4th to briefly give the Ports their only lead of the game, while outfielder Brett Vertigan singled and doubled in a run, and shortstop Yairo Munoz doubled in a pair for the Ports. Meanwhile, LHP Chris Lamb was placed on the disabled list and LHP Jeff Urlaub, who’s returning to action after an arm injury, was assigned to Stockton.

Catcher Nick Collins clubbed a 3-run homer in the bottom of the 1st to give the Lake Monsters an early lead on Monday. But starter Jon Massad was a little shaky, allowing 6 runs, 4 earned, on 8 hits over 5 innings of work to take his 4th loss for the Lake Monsters. 21-year-old Venezuelan RHP Angel Duno was promoted to Vermont on Monday after posting a 2.92 ERA and notching 35 strikeouts in 40 innings of work for the AZL A’s.

RHP Dakota Chalmers walked 2 in 1 2/3 scoreless innings to start things off for the AZL A’s on Monday, but 19-year-old Venezuelan RHP Argenis Blanco had a rare rough outing, allowing 5 runs in just 2 innings of relief to take the loss, and LHP Victor Veliz gave up 3 runs over 3 innings in his return to Arizona from Stockton. Outfielder Luis Barrera had 2 hits and drove in a run, while second baseman Carlos Hiciano had a pair of hits, and designated hitter J.P. Sportman singled in a run, walked, stole a base and scored twice in his second rehab game for the A’s.
