After experiencing his roughest start of the season his last time out, RHP Tim Atherton returned to form for the RockHounds on Sunday, allowing just 1 run while striking out 8 over 5 2/3 innings to earn his 2nd win for Midland. RHP Bobby Wahl tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief, while RHP Ryan Dull gave up his first run of the season while striking out three in the 9th. Outfielder Josh Whitaker slugged a 2-run homer in the 6th inning, while second baseman Colin Walsh singled in a pair in the 9th. Catcher Carson Blair singled, doubled, walked and scored twice, and shortstop Chad Pinder and outfielder Chad Oberacker both had a pair of hits and drove in a run for the RockHounds.

RHP Chris Bassitt had a shaky start for the Sounds on Sunday, giving up 4 runs over 5 innings of work to take his 3rd loss for Nashville. LHP Sean Doolittle allowed a home run and a double and struck out 1 in 1 inning of relief in his second rehab appearance for the Sounds, while switch-pitcher Pat Venditte tossed 2 scoreless innings to lower his ERA to 1.55. Third baseman Ryan Roberts singled and hit a 2-run homer to tie the game in the 3rd, while outfielder Kent Matthes doubled and drove in a run. Shortstop Niuman Romero had a pair of doubles, and Ben Zobrist, playing second base and batting third, went 1 for 4 and scored a run in his third rehab game for the Sounds, and he’s now set to be activated and return to the A’s on Monday. Fresno starter, and former A’s farmhand, Dan Straily allowed 3 runs over 7 innings to notch his 3rd win for the Grizzlies.

RHP Kyle Finnegan turned in a solid start for Stockton on Sunday, allowing just 1 run over 5 innings of work, and he left the game with a 1-run lead. RHPs Corey Walter and Sam Bragg combined to throw 3 scoreless innings in relief as the Ports built a 4-run lead heading to the 9th. But RHP Brendan McCurry gave up 4 runs, 3 of them unearned with the help of a throwing error by shortstop Franklin Barreto and his own wild pitch with the bases loaded, to send the game to extra innings. And RHP Trevor Bayless surrendered a home run in the bottom of the 11th to allow Lake Elsinore to win in a walk-off and take his 1st loss for Stockton. Catcher Nick Rickles had a big night at the plate for the Ports, collecting 4 hits, including 2 doubles, and driving in a pair, while shortstop Franklin Barreto, designated hitter Beau Taylor and outfielders B.J. Boyd and Tyler Marincov had 3 hits apiece for the Ports.

RHP Kevin Johnson had his roughest start so far this season for the Snappers, giving up 7 runs, 6 earned, over 2 2/3 innings to take his 4th loss on Sunday. RHP Corey Miller allowed 4 unearned runs with the help of errors by third baseman Jose Brizuela, second baseman Trent Gilbert and shortstop Yairo Munoz. LHP Jerad Grundy then came on and tossed 3 shutout innings in relief, and RHP Joey Wagman contributed 2 scoreless innings of his own. Beloit batters managed just 4 hits in the game. Trent Gilbert had a pair of hits, while Yairo Munoz and designated hitter Robert Martinez both singled in the loss.
