LHP Barry Zito turned in his best start so far this season for the Sounds on Sunday, striking out 5 over 7 shutout innings to earn his 1st win for Nashville. RHP Seth Frankoff threw 2 scoreless frames to close things out for the Sounds. Right fielder Kent Matthes homered, doubled and drove in 3, while shortstop Andy Parrino and left fielder Jason Pridie both singled, walked and homered, and center fielder Craig Gentry singled in a run and walked for Nashville. Rehabbing outfielder Josh Hamilton went 1 for 3 in his debut for Round Rock, while former A’s farmhand Michael Choice went 0 for 2 with a walk versus Zito.

Starter Zach Neal allowed 3 runs on just 3 hits and 2 walks over 7 innings of work to earn his 3rd win for the RockHounds, while RHP Bobby Wahl gave up 1 run while striking out 5 in 2 innings of relief to close things out on Sunday. Shortstop Chad Pinder collected 3 hits, including his 5th home run, and drove in 2 runs, while outfielder Josh Whitaker had a double and a 2-run homer. Catcher Carson Blair had a triple and a pair of singles and drove in 3, and first baseman Ryon Healy and designated hitter Colin Walsh each hit his 1st home run for the Hounds.

LHP Dillon Overton had one of his most solid starts this season for Stockton, allowing just 1 run while striking out 5 over 5 innings of work, but he left with the game a 1-1 tie. RHP Ben Bracewell pitched 2 perfect innings in relief to pick up his 1st win, while RHP Brendan McCurry tossed a scoreless 9th to earn his 3rd save for Stockton. Catcher Beau Taylor doubled in 2 runs, including the winning run, in the 8th, while outfielder Brett Vertigan had a pair of hits and stole a base, and first baseman John Nogowski and second baseman Branden Cogswell both singled, doubled and drove in a run for the Ports.
