First Baseman Max Muncy

Nashville first baseman Max Muncy had the biggest hit of the night on Friday when he doubled home outfielder Billy Burns in the bottom of the 10th to give the Sounds the walk-off win in their home opener, which also happened to be the inaugural game at the brand new First Tennessee Park in Nashville. Muncy also walked twice and scored the tying run earlier in the game. Burns had a pair of singles and is now 16 for 38 on the season, putting him third in the league in hits. Starter Arnold Leon allowed 2 runs while striking out 7 but exited after throwing 87 pitches in just 4 innings. Switch-pitcher Pat Venditte followed up with 3 shutout innings, while RHP Chad Smith tossed 2 scoreless frames, and RHP Ryan Cook pitched a perfect 10th to earn his 2nd win for the Sounds.

RHP Tanner Peters had a rough start for the RockHounds, allowing 5 runs on 6 hits and 4 walks over just 3 innings of work to take his 2nd loss on Friday. RHP Nate Long followed up with 3 scoreless innings, while RHP Ryan Doolittle gave up 1 run in 2 innings of relief. Shortstop Chad Pinder hit his 3rd home run, tying him for the league lead with teammate Matt Olson and four others. Pinder also walked and drove in a pair on the night, while outfielder Chad Oberacker collected 3 hits, and catcher Carson Blair and third baseman Ryon Healy had a pair of hits apiece in the loss.

Outfielder Tyler Marincov singled and doubled, while catcher Nick Rickles, second baseman Branden Cogswell and outfielder B.J. Boyd each contributed a single in the loss.

The Snappers snapped their 7-game losing streak on Friday with key contributions from many quarters. Outfielder Shawn Duinkerk collected 4 hits, including a home run and a double, and scored 3 runs, including the go-ahead run in the bottom of the 8th for Beloit. Second baseman Trent Gilbert singled, doubled twice and drove in a pair, while catcher Argenis Raga doubled and drove in 3. Outfielder Brett Vertigan singled 3 times, and shortstop Yairo Munoz and first baseman Max Kuhn had a pair of hits apiece for Beloit. Snappers starter Heath Fillmyer allowed 4 runs, 3 earned, over 5 innings of work, while RHP Corey Miller gave up 2 runs in 2 innings of relief, and RHP Trevor Bayless tossed 2 scoreless innings to pick up the win on Friday.
