Starter Chris Jensen allowed just 1 unearned run on 2 hits while striking out 5 over 7 innings of work to earn the win for the RockHounds on Friday. Jensen, who was acquired from the Rockies in the Brett Anderson trade, now leads all A’s minor leaguers in wins with 12. LHP Frank Gailey gave up 1 run in just 1/3 of an inning of relief, while RHP Jose Flores got the final five outs to notch his 9th save. Midland managed just 4 hits on the night. Shortstop Dusty Coleman singled and hit a 2-run homer in the 2nd to give the Hounds the lead, while outfielder Kenny Wilson doubled, and second baseman Conner Crumbliss singled in the win.

LHP Drew Pomeranz turned in his fifth straight quality start for Sacramento on Friday, allowing just 1 run while striking out 9 over 6 innings of work to earn his 3rd win for the River Cats. RHPs Tucker Healy, Seth Frankoff and Evan Scribner each tossed 1 scoreless inning in relief, with Scribner picking up his 15th save for Sacramento. Right fielder Nick Buss had a pair of hits and scored a run, while left fielder Shane Peterson doubled, walked and scored, and shortstop Jose Martinez and first baseman Anthony Aliotti each drove in a run for the River Cats. Meanwhile, with Oakland shortstop Jed Lowrie landing on the disabled list, Sacramento shortstop Andy Parrino was recalled by the A’s and infielder Wade Kirkland was promoted from the Ports to take Parrino’s place on the River Cats roster.

The Ports were down by 9 runs at one point but crept back within a run before ultimately going down to defeat on Friday night. After posting four straight quality starts, RHP Jake Sanchez endured a rough outing, allowing 6 runs, 5 earned, on 7 hits, including 3 home runs, over 5 innings to take his 2nd loss for Stockton, while RHP Rodolfo Fernandez surrendered 4 runs in 2 innings of relief, and RHP Nolan Sanburn gave up 1 run in 2 innings of work. Second baseman Chad Pinder collected 4 hits, including a double, and drove in 3 runs, while first baseman Matt Olson singled, doubled, walked twice and scored twice, and shortstop Daniel Robertson singled, doubled, walked and drove in a run for the Ports. Meanwhile, Stockton infielder Wade Kirkland was reassigned to Sacramento and outfielder Tyler Marincov was promoted to the Ports from Beloit.

With the Snappers down by a run and two men on in the top of the 8th, first baseman Michael Soto smacked a single to center field to drive in the tying and winning runs on Friday night. Third baseman Matt Chapman singled and homered, while outfielder Ryan Mathews singled, doubled and scored a run for the Snappers. Starter Junior Mendez allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, over 6 innings of work, while RHP Brendan McCurry pitched 2 perfect innings in relief to post his 2nd win, and RHP Sam Bragg got the final three outs for his 7th save. Meanwhile, Beloit lost its best hitter when outfielder Tyler Marincov was promoted to the Ports.

LHP Jerad Grundy had a solid start for the Lake Monsters, allowing just 1 run and striking out 4 over 5 innings of work, but he still ended up taking the loss on Friday. RHP Blake McMullen gave up 4 runs in just 2/3 of an inning of relief for Vermont. Meanwhile, third baseman Jose Brizuela and shortstop Gabriel Santana each singled for the Lake Monsters’ only two hits of the game.

17-year-old RHP Jesus Zambrano turned in a strong start on Friday, allowing just 2 unearned runs and striking out 4 over 6 innings of work to earn his 5th win, while RHP Heath Fillmyer tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, and RHP Rob Huber got the final three outs for the A’s. Left fielder Robert Martinez collected 3 hits, including a home run, and drove in 3, while center fielder Jonesy Zarraga doubled, had a pair of singles and stole a base, and catcher Andy Paz singled, walked and hit his 1st home run for the A’s.
