After going 0 for his last 18, shortstop Chad Pinder stepped to the plate in the top of the 4th with two men on and the game a scoreless tie and slugged a 3-run homer to provide the Ports with all the runs they would need on Wednesday night. Catcher Beau Taylor doubled in a run in the 5th, while outfielder Bobby Crocker and designated hitter Renato Nunez had a pair of hits apiece for the Ports. Starter Josh Bowman allowed 2 runs and struck out 5 over 6 innings of work to earn his 6th win, while RHPs Kris Hall and Rodolfo Fernandez each tossed 1 scoreless inning in relief, and RHP Austin House pitched a perfect 9th to post his 17th save.

RHP Zach Neal turned in a solid start for Sacramento, allowing 2 runs in 7 innings of work, but he still ended up taking the loss on Wednesday. LHP Joe Savery gave up 2 runs in just 1/3 of an inning, while RHP Seth Frankoff tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief. Outfielder Billy Burns had a pair of hits and scored twice, while designated hitter Daric Barton singled and drove in a run, and rehabbing first baseman Kyle Blanks went 1 for 2 and also drove in a run for the River Cats.

Third baseman Jefry Marte walked twice, singled and homered, while outfielder Kent Matthes walked and singled in a pair, and outfielder Kenny Wilson had 3 hits and drove in a run for the RockHounds.

The A’s managed just 4 hits in the game. Rehabbing catcher Luke Montz homered, while outfielder Vicmal De La Cruz singled and walked, and first baseman Miguel Mercedes had a pair of hits in the loss.

RHP Carlos Navas celebrated his 22nd birthday by turning in another strong start for the A’s in the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader. Navas allowed just 1 run on 3 hits and struck out 7 in 6 innings of work to earn his 5th win, while RHP Ben Bracewell tossed 1 scoreless inning in relief to earn his 2nd save. Designated hitter Luke Montz had a pair of doubles and drove in a run, while outfielder Vicmal De La Cruz singled, walked and scored, and outfielder Jonesy Zarraga brought around the winning run with a sacrifice fly for the A’s.
