Hitting in the cleanup spot, third baseman Hiro Nakajima helped carry the Hounds to victory on Sunday night. Nakajima hit a 3-run homer in the 1st inning to give Midland the lead and then doubled in another run in the 3rd to extend the RockHounds’ lead. After posting a pair of home runs on Saturday, outfielder Kent Matthes notched his 9th home run on Sunday, while shortstop Dusty Coleman singled, doubled and drove in a pair of runs, and outfielder Billy Burns singled, walked and swiped his 50th and 51st bases of the season. Starter Drew Granier allowed 3 runs in 5 2/3 innings of work to pick up the win, while LHP Omar Duran tossed 2 scoreless innings of relief in his RockHounds debut.

LHP Drew Pomeranz turned in a strong start for Sacramento on Sunday, allowing just 2 runs while striking out 8 over 8 innings of work but, when he left, the game was tied 2-2. RHP Seth Frankoff pitched a perfect 9th to send the game to extra innings, while Deck McGuire tossed a scoreless 10th and 11th in his first appearance for Sacramento. RHP Jeremy McBryde contributed 2 more scoreless frames before RHP Tucker Healy allowed 2 unearned runs after a fielding error by Andy Parrino allowed the winning run to reach base in the top of the 14th. First baseman Daric Barton collected 3 hits, while Parrino, second baseman Jake Elmore and designated hitter Shane Peterson had a pair of hits apiece in the loss.

RHP Dylan Covey shut out Lancaster over the first 3 innings on Sunday before blowing up in the 4th. Covey ended up allowing 4 runs on 5 hits and 4 walks over just 3 2/3 innings to take the loss in his first start for Stockton. RHP Michael Ynoa exited in the middle of an at-bat in the 8th with an apparent injury. Designated hitter Ryon Healy hit his 13th home run, while first baseman Matt Olson doubled in a run, and shortstop Daniel Robertson and outfielder Zeke DeVoss had a pair of hits apiece for the Ports.

Third baseman Jose Brizuela collected 3 hits and scored twice, while first baseman Ryan Huck singled, doubled and drove in a run. Outfielder J.P. Sportman singled, doubled and walked, and second baseman Chris Wolfe had a pair of singles and drove in a run for the Lake Monsters.
