LHP Drew Pomeranz was impressive in his rehab start for the River Cats on Saturday, allowing just 1 hit, a home run in the 2nd inning, while walking none and striking out 7 over 4 innings of work. RHP Matt Buschmann gave up 2 runs, 1 earned, in 4 innings of relief to pick up the win, while RHP Jeremy McBryde tossed a scoreless 9th for his 8th save. Third baseman Alden Carrithers had 2 doubles and drove in a run, while left fielder Shane Peterson walked and doubled in a pair, and center fielder Kenny Wilson singled, walked, stole a base and scored a run for the River Cats. With Oakland infielder Alberto Callaspo landing on the disabled list, River Cats infielder Andy Parrino was recalled by the A’s on Saturday.

Midland managed to win its ninth straight on Saturday. RHP Drew Granier turned in a strong start, striking out 7 over 6 shutout innings to earn his 5th win, while RHP Ryan Dull got the final three outs for his 3rd save. Designated hitter Hiroyuki Nakajima homered in the bottom of the 5th to put the Hounds on the board, while catcher Beau Taylor had a pair of doubles, and shortstop Dusty Coleman and outfielder Kent Matthes each drove in a run for the RockHounds.

Designated hitter Wade Kirkland had a home run and 2 doubles, drove in 2 runs and stole a base, while second baseman Colin Walsh collected 4 hits, including a double, and drove in a pair, and outfielder Jaycob Brugman, shortstop Daniel Robertson and third baseman Ryon Healy had a pair of hits apiece for the Ports.

Starter Matt Stalcup had a solid outing on Saturday, allowing just 4 hits over 5 1/3 scoreless innings to earn his 2nd win, while RHP Brendan McCurry pitched 1 2/3 perfect innings in relief, and RHP Bobby Wahl got the final six outs for the Snappers. Designated hitter Matt Chapman tripled, doubled and drove in 2, while Ryan Mathews doubled in a pair, and catcher Philip Pohl and first baseman B.A. Vollmuth both singled, doubled and drove in a run for Beloit.

Starter Jerad Grundy turned in a strong effort for Vermont on Saturday, allowing just 2 hits over 6 shutout innings, and he left the game with a 1-run lead. But RHP Jordan Schwartz gave up 1 run in 1 2/3 innings of relief, and RHP Blake McMullen was charged with 2 runs in just 1/3 of an inning to take the loss. Second baseman Joe Bennie singled, doubled and drove in a run, while shortstop Yairo Munoz singled in a run and stole a base for the Lake Monsters.

Designated hitter Iolana Akau singled, doubled and drove in a run, while second baseman Trent Gilbert and outfielder J.P. Sportman had a pair of hits apiece in the win.
