Slugger Matt Olson carried the day for Stockton on Wednesday night. The big first baseman drove a bases-clearing double off the wall to break a 1-1 tie in the 4th. Then, after Modesto had crept back within a run, he laced his league-leading 25th home run over the right-field wall in the 7th. Second baseman Colin Walsh, who just returned to Stockton from Sacramento, hit his 1st home run for the Ports in the 1st, while shortstop Daniel Robertson singled, walked and scored a run, and catcher Bruce Maxwell had a pair of hits for the Ports. Starter Jake Sanchez allowed 3 runs and struck out 5 over 6 innings to earn his 3rd win on Wednesday. RHP Rodolfo Fernandez, who was recently acquired from the Brewers, tossed 2 scoreless innings in his Ports debut, while RHP Nolan Sanburn got the final three outs for his 5th save. And in other news, outfielder Chad Oberacker was reassigned to Stockton from Midland.

Third baseman Jose Martinez slugged a 2-out, 2-run homer in the 6th to tie the game for Sacramento on Wednesday night, then shortstop Andy Parrino smacked a 2-run single the next inning to give his team the lead. Outfielder Josh Whitaker collected 3 hits, including a double, while second baseman Jake Elmore singled, doubled, walked twice and drove in a run and outfielder Kenny Wilson, recently claimed off waivers from the Blue Jays, had a pair of hits, stole a base and drove in a run in his River Cats debut. Meanwhile, LHP Tommy Milone made his first start since his return to Sacramento. He allowed 1 run over 4 innings of work and exited with his team down by a run, while RHP Paul Smyth picked up the win with 1 2/3 scoreless innings of relief for the River Cats.

Jefry Marte had a big night for Midland on Wednesday. The third baseman had 5 hits, including 3 doubles, and drove in a pair of runs for the RockHounds. Outfielder Billy Burns singled, tripled and drove in 3, while outfielder D’Arby Myers had 2 hits and drove in a pair. Starter Chris Jensen turned in another solid effort for the Hounds, allowing just 1 run over 6 innings of work to earn his 6th win on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Jeremy Barfield, who had been working as a converted pitcher in Stockton, has returned to the RockHounds as an outfielder, while Midland outfielder Chad Oberacker has been reassigned to Stockton.

RHP Lou Trivino had a rough start for the Snappers on Wednesday, giving up 5 runs, 4 earned, over just 2 1/3 innings before exiting the game with a possible finger injury. He ended up taking the loss, while RHP Trevor Bayless allowed 1 run over 2 2/3 innings, and RHPs Sam Bragg and Joel Seddon each tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief. Outfielder Tyler Marincov had 3 hits, including a triple, and drove in a run, while designated hitter Ryan Mathews singled in the Snappers only other run of the night, and outfielder Justin Higley went 1 for 4 and made a diving catch in left in his debut for Beloit.

Starter Cristhian Perez allowed 6 runs, 3 earned, on 8 hits over 5 2/3 innings to take the loss for the Lake Monsters on Wednesday. Outfielder Brett Vertigan had a pair of doubles, drove in a run and stole a base, while shortstop Yairo Munoz singled and homered, and outfielder Dayton Alexander singled, doubled and drove in a run for the Lake Monsters.
