With Sacramento down by a run and a man on in the bottom of the 7th inning, outfielder Shane Peterson slugged a 2-run homer to provide the winning run for the River Cats on Monday. Shortstop Andy Parrino drew a pair of walks and scored twice, while catcher Stephen Vogt singled and drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in his first game back in action for Sacramento after spending over a month on the disabled list with a strained oblique. Starter Marcus Walden allowed 6 runs, 3 earned, on 9 hits over 5 1/3 innings of work, while RHP Jeremy McBryde tossed 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief to earn his 2nd win, and RHP Evan Scribner got the final 3 outs for his 6th save. In other news, SB Nation’s Chris Cotillo reported on Monday that Padres first baseman/outfielder Kyle Blanks could be dealt to the A’s, with River Cats outfielder Jake Goebbert possibly going to San Diego, noting that Goebbert wasn’t in the Cats lineup on Monday night.

RHP Shawn Haviland had a rocky outing for the RockHounds on Monday, allowing 5 runs on 7 hits and 4 walks over 6 1/3 innings to take his 3rd loss, while RHP Blake Hassebrock surrendered another 3 runs on 8 hits in 2 2/3 innings of relief. Outfielder Josh Whitaker had 3 hits, including his 7th home run, and drove in a pair, while first baseman Anthony Aliotti, who was named the Texas League Player of the Week for last week after hitting .440 with 2 home runs and 7 RBIs, reached base 4 times, on a single and 3 walks, and drove in a run for the RockHounds. Infielder Hiroyuki Nakajima wasn’t in the starting lineup for Midland on Monday after making 4 errors in his first game at shortstop for the Hounds.

In his first game back for Beloit after spending almost a month on the disabled list with a strained oblique, RHP Bobby Wahl allowed 1 run in 3 innings of work before giving way to LHP Brent Powers, who tossed 4 perfect innings in relief to earn his 2nd win. RHP Tyler Vail, who was set to make his first appearance of the season for the Snappers after returning from injury, exited the game before throwing his first pitch due to some sort of arm discomfort. But outfielder B.J. Boyd belted a 2-run homer, while catcher Jose Chavez had 2 hits and drove in a run, and second baseman Sam Roberts doubled in a pair to help the Snappers prevail. Meanwhile, RHPs Lee Sosa and Trevor Bayless were returned to extended spring training in Arizona in order to make room on the roster for Wahl and Vail.
