RHP Chris Jensen, acquired from Colorado in the Brett Anderson trade, had his best start yet for the RockHounds, allowing 1 run on just 3 hits over 7 2/3 innings to earn his 2nd win on Wednesday. LHP Frank Gailey tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief, while RHP Murphy Smith got the final out in the 9th for his 1st save. Third baseman Jefry Marte hit his 2nd home run to put Midland on the board in the 5th and designated hitter Miles Head singled, doubled and drove in a run for the Hounds. In other news, RHP Ryan Doolittle, Sean’s little brother, was promoted from Stockton to join the RockHounds roster. And LHP Andrew Werner is set to come out of the bullpen to start Thursday’s game in place of RHP Raul Alcantara, who hasn’t been placed on the disabled list but is suffering from a sore right elbow.

RHP Josh Bowman had another rocky start for Stockton, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits over 5 innings of work on Wednesday. RHP Kris Hall tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, while RHP Jonathan Joseph threw a scoreless 8th, and converted outfielder Jeremy Barfield struck out a pair in the top of the 9th to earn his 1st professional win since making the move to the pitcher’s mound. Shortstop Daniel Robertson had 3 hits, including his 2nd home run to put the Ports on the board in the 1st, while outfielder Dusty Robinson singled, doubled and drove in the tying run in the bottom of the 9th, and designated hitter Ryon Healy brought around the winning run when he drove a ball that bounced off the pitcher’s foot to give the Ports the walk-off win on Wednesday.

RHP Junior Mendez was a little shaky in his first start for the Snappers on Wednesday, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits over 4 1/3 innings to take the loss, while LHP Brent Powers surrendered 6 runs in 2 innings of relief, and RHP Andres Avila got the final 5 outs of the game. Shortstop Luis Baez had 4 hits, including a double, and drove in 2 runs, while outfielder Herschel “Boog” Powell had a pair of singles and a triple to raise his batting average for Beloit to .352.
