A’s Farmhand Of The Day
TEXAS LEAGUE (Double-A)
San Antonio Missions 4
Midland RockHounds 7
WP – Hassebrock 1-0 / 17.36
HR – Whitaker (3), Forsythe (1)
Farmhand Of The Game:
Catcher Blake Forsythe
(4 for 6 / Home Run / 3 RBIs / Game-Winning RBI)
Recently-acquired catcher Blake Forsythe made quite an impression in his RockHounds debut. The 24-year-old backstop, who was picked up from the Mets, notched 4 hits, including a 3-run homer with 2 outs in the bottom of the 12th inning to give his new team the win on Sunday. First baseman Josh Whitaker hit a 3-run homer earlier in the game, while second baseman Colin Walsh had 3 hits, and outfielder Billy Burns swiped a pair of bases to extend his league-leading total to 11. Starter Drew Granier gave up 1 run over 4 2/3 innings of work, while RHP Murphy Smith didn’t allow a hit or a run in 3 1/3 innings of relief but, with a 2-run lead in the 9th, RHP Seth Frankoff surrendered a pair of runs to send the game to extra innings. And that’s where Forsythe’s big fly in the bottom of the 12th eventually turned the tide in favor of the Hounds, with RHP Blake Hassebrock picking up his 1st win after tossing a scoreless frame in the top of the 12th.
