In the completion of Monday’s suspended game, Vermont lost 6-2 on Tuesday. RHP Lou Trivino got things off to a good start on Monday by tossing 3 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing just 1 hit while walking none and striking out 3, and he had a 1-run lead when play was halted. But when play resumed on Tuesday, RHP Junior Mendez allowed 2 runs, 1 earned, on 3 hits over 2 2/3 innings of work, and RHP Dominique Vattuone gave up 4 runs in just 1 inning of relief to take the loss. First baseman Michael Soto and outfielder Billy McKinney both singled, doubled and drove in a run for the Lake Monsters.

In Tuesday’s second game, LHP Brent Powers had one of his best outings of the season, tossing a complete-game 7-inning shutout for Vermont. Powers gave up 5 hits while walking none and striking out 9 over 7 scoreless innings to earn his 6th win. A’s top draft pick Billy McKinney also had a big game, collecting 3 hits, including his 1st home run for Vermont, to raise his average with the Lake Monsters to .387.
