Second baseman Jemile Weeks hit his 4th home run, while third baseman Hiro Nakajima had a pair of hits and drove in a run for the River Cats. Meanwhile, RHP Evan Scribner was optioned back to Sacramento to make room on the A’s roster for the return of Bartolo Colon.

With Midland down by a run and two men on in the bottom of the 9th, outfielder Chad Oberacker doubled to drive in the tying and winning runs and provide another walk-off win for the RockHounds on Thursday. Oberacker had hit a 3-run homer earlier to tie the game in the 4th inning. Outfielder Josh Whitaker had a pair of doubles and a pair of singles and drove in 3 runs, while third baseman Jefry Marte singled and homered, and outfielder D’Arby Myers had a pair of hits to run his hitting streak to 32 games. RHP Drew Carpenter had his first rough outing for the RockHounds, allowing 5 runs on 8 hits over 5 1/3 innings of work, while LHP Pedro Viola gave up 4 runs in the top of the 9th to tie the game, and RHP Mike De Mark got the final out in the 9th to pick up his 3rd win for Midland.

Catcher Bruce Maxwell homered to provide the Ports their only hit and only run of the game on Thursday. RHP Ryan Doolittle, returning from Tommy John surgery, allowed 2 runs on 3 hits over 2 1/3 innings to take the loss, while RHP Jonathan Joseph struck out 4 in 2 innings of relief for the Ports.

Top draft pick Billy McKinney singled, tripled and drove in a pair of runs for the Lake Monsters.

In the season finale for the AZL A’s, RHP Jonathan Massad got things off to a good start with a pair of scoreless and hitless innings, and RHP Travis Pitcher closed things out by striking out 4 over 2 perfect innings to post his 3rd save. RHP A.J. Burke picked up the win despite giving up 3 runs in 2 innings of relief. Outfielder Justin Higley had 2 hits and drove in 2 runs, while shortstop Yairo Munoz singled, doubled and scored twice, and first baseman Shawn Duinkerk drove in a pair of runs for the A’s, who finished the Arizona League season with a record of 25-30.
