With the bases loaded and 2 outs in the top of the 8th inning and the game tied, outfielder Michael Taylor singled to drive in a pair of runs and give the River Cats the lead. Third baseman Daric Barton had 3 hits, while first baseman Anthony Aliotti drove in a pair of runs for the Cats. Starter Tommy Milone allowed 3 runs, all unearned, and struck out 8 over 5 1/3 innings of work, while RHP Evan Scribner picked up the win with 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief, and RHP Brian Gordon tossed a scoreless 9th for his 16th save. Meanwhile, Midland’s best starting pitcher, LHP Carlos Hernandez, has been promoted and will be joining Sacramento’s pitching staff, and RHP Darren Byrd was assigned to Stockton to make room on the River Cats roster.

Starter Drew Carpenter had a solid outing in his debut for Midland, allowing just 1 run over 4 innings of work, while RHP Nate Long tossed 1 2/3 innings in relief to pick up the win, and RHP Ryan Dull got the final 5 outs to earn his 1st save for the RockHounds. Outfielder Josh Whitaker singled, homered and drove in 2 runs, while second baseman Dusty Coleman singled, doubled and drove in a pair for the Hounds. With Carpenter joining Midland’s starting staff, the team’s best starter, LHP Carlos Hernandez, was promoted to Sacramento.

Starter Shaeffer Hall was a little shaky for Stockton, allowing 3 runs in just 5 innings of work, but he picked up his 4th win on Tuesday. Shortstop Addison Russell homered in his second straight game, this time slugging a grand slam in the 2nd inning. Catcher Phil Pohl had 3 hits, including a home run, and drove in 2 runs, while third baseman B.A. Vollmuth doubled, homered and drove in a pair for the Ports. Meanwhile, RHP Darren Byrd was assigned to Stockton from Sacramento.

This year’s 7th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Dustin Driver, had a rough start, allowing 8 runs, 5 earned, on 7 hits in just 1 1/3 innings of work to take the loss on Tuesday, while RHP Cristhian Perez gave up 2 runs, just 1 earned, and struck out 8 over 5 innings of relief. Outfielder Scott Masik had 3 hits and drove in a run, while outfielder Justin Higley collected a pair of triples, and catcher Kyle Wheeler drove in 3 runs for the A’s.
