After four straight shaky starts, RHP Arnold Leon turned in an impressive outing on Thursday, allowing just 1 run over 6 2/3 innings to earn his 2nd win for the River Cats, while RHP Brian Gordon got the final 3 outs for his 10th save. Outfielder Shane Peterson had 2 hits and drove in a pair of runs, while second baseman Jemile Weeks singled, tripled, walked twice and drove in a run for the River Cats.

Starter Murphy Smith allowed 5 runs, 3 earned, on 8 hits over 5 innings to take the loss on Thursday, while LHP Frank Gailey tossed 3 scoreless innings in relief. Designated hitter Jake Goebbert hit a 2-run homer, while third baseman Vinnie Catricala slugged a solo shot for the RockHounds.

Starter Michael Ynoa allowed 2 runs on 3 hits and 3 walks but was lifted after 3 innings due to shoulder tightness. LHP Shaeffer Hall picked up the win despite giving up 4 runs on 7 hits in 2 2/3 innings of relief, while RHP Seth Frankoff pitched a perfect 9th to post his 3rd save. Outfielder Bobby Crocker had 3 hits, including a double, walked, drove in a run and scored twice, while third baseman Tony Thompson had a pair of doubles, second baseman Antonio Lamas drove in 2 runs, and outfielder Myrio Richard and designated hitter Josh Whitaker both homered for the Ports.

Starter Andres Avila had a disastrous outing for Beloit on Thursday, allowing 12 runs on 13 hits in just 1 inning of work. First baseman Matt Olson hit a 3-run homer, while third baseman John Wooten and designated hitter Renato Nunez both slugged solo shots for the Snappers.

RHP Kyle Finnegan had a solid start on Thursday, allowing 3 runs over 7 1/3 innings of work, but he still ended up taking the loss for Vermont. Outfielder B.J. Boyd drew 4 walks in the game, while catcher Ryan Gorton singled, doubled and drove in a run for the Lake Monsters.

The A’s 7th-round draft pick, RHP Dustin Driver, made his debut for the A’s on Thursday, walking 1 and striking out 1 in 1 scoreless inning of work. RHP Carlos Navas allowed 2 runs on 9 hits over 6 innings to earn his 1st win, while LHP Chris Kohler struck out 3 in 2 scoreless innings of relief to pick up his 1st save. 17-year-old shortstop Edwin Diaz hit a 2-run homer, while catcher Iolana Akau and designated hitter Justin Higley had a pair of hits apiece for the A’s, and outfielder Billy McKinney missed his second straight game with a sprained ankle.
