With Sonny Gray scratched from his scheduled start due to his recall by Oakland, RHP Chris Resop made an emergency start and didn’t fare well, allowing 8 runs on 9 hits over just 2 1/3 innings to take the loss on Tuesday. Second baseman Jemile Weeks collected 3 hits and scored twice, while designated hitter Scott Moore had 2 hits and drove in a pair of runs for the River Cats.

Starter Josh Bowman had his second straight strong outing for Stockton, allowing 1 run while striking out 6 to earn his 3rd win on Tuesday. Outfielder Myrio Richard collected 4 hits, including a double, and drove in 2 runs, while second baseman Wade Kirkland homered, doubled and drove in a pair of runs for the Ports.

Catcher Ryan Gorton homered to tie the game in the bottom of the 6th inning. And then in the bottom of the 10th, with Wilfredo Solano at second base, Gorton bunted him over to third, and he eventually came around to score the winning run on another sacrifice bunt by outfielder Herschel Powell, who had 3 hits in the game. The A’s 4th-round draft pick this year, RHP Dylan Covey, allowed just 2 hits and struck out 5 over 4 innings of work and has now failed to allow an earned run in his first 12 innings of pro ball, while RHP Trevor Bayless picked up the win with 2 scoreless innings of relief.
