A’s Farmhand Of The Day
PACIFIC COAST LEAGUE (Triple-A)
Tucson Padres 0
Sacramento River Cats 2
WP – Resop 1-0 / 7.80
HR – Taylor (10)
Farmhand Of The Game:
Outfielder Michael Taylor
(Home Run / 2 RBIs)
With the A’s needing a 5th starter on Saturday, and possibly needing to add another starter if Jarrod Parker can’t take his turn on Thursday, Sonny Gray was held out of his scheduled start for Sacramento on Tuesday just in case he might be needed in Oakland later this week. Fortunately for the River Cats, LHP Pedro Figueroa and RHPs Chris Resop, Evan Scribner and Brian Gordon combined on a 5-hit shutout for Sacramento, with Resop picking up the win and Gordon garnering the save. Outfielder Michael Taylor tagged a 2-run homer in the bottom of the 4th inning to account for all the scoring in the game. In other news, RHP Arnold Leon has been promoted from Midland and will be joining the River Cats rotation this week, and outfielder Michael Choice, second baseman Grant Green and RHP Sonny Gray were named to the Pacific Coast League All-Star team, with Gray penciled in as the PCL starter. We’ll have to wait to see if he’s still around the PCL later this month to make that start.
