A’s Farmhand Of The Day
PACIFIC COAST LEAGUE (Triple-A)
Sacramento River Cats 0
Tucson Padres 2
LP – Werner 4-7 / 5.82
Farmhand Of The Game:
Pitcher Andrew Werner
(7 IP / 9 H / 2 ER / 0 BB / 1 K)
Well, after scoring 20 runs on Sunday, the River Cats were apparently all tapped out and couldn’t push a single run across the plate against the Padres on Monday. Second baseman Grant Green tripled, third baseman Scott Moore doubled, and outfielders Michael Choice and Jeremy Barfield collected a hit apiece – and that was it for Sacramento. LHP Andrew Werner delivered his 5th straight quality start, allowing just 2 runs on 9 hits and walking none over 7 innings of work, but he still ended up being saddled with his 7th loss. And in other news, after appearing in Stockton on Monday night, A’s outfielder Josh Reddick is scheduled to join the River Cats on Tuesday to continue his minor league rehab assignment in Sacramento.

TEXAS LEAGUE (Double-A)
Midland RockHounds 10
Springfield Cardinals 8
WP – Hernandez 2-4 / 3.56
HR – Crumbliss (2), Ladendorf (1)
Farmhand Of The Game:
Outfielder Conner Crumbliss
(Home Run / Game-Winning RBI)
With the game tied in the top of the 8th inning, outfielder Conner Crumbliss homered for the second straight night to deliver the game-winning run for the RockHounds on Monday. Outfielder Tyler Ladendorf had just hit his 1st homer in the previous inning to tie the game. Starter Erik Arnesen, who just joined the RockHounds last week, had his second straight rough outing, allowing 8 runs on 9 hits in just 4 1/3 innings of work. But LHP Carlos Hernandez saved the day by coming in to toss 3 2/3 scoreless innings, which gave the Hounds a chance to come back and hand Hernandez his 2nd win. RHP Kyler Newby got the final 3 outs for his 5th save.
CALIFORNIA LEAGUE (High-A)
Inland Empire 66ers 10
Stockton Ports 7
LP – Bowman 0-1 / 21.32
HR – Robinson (7)
Farmhand Of The Game:
Outfielder Dusty Robinson
(Home Run / 3 RBIs)
Things have gone from bad to worse for RHP Josh Bowman. While he struggled in Midland, he’s completely imploded since his return to Stockton. On Monday, he allowed 9 runs on 10 hits in just 4 innings of work. And in his first 2 starts with Stockton, he’s now given up a total of 15 runs in just 6 1/3 innings. First baseman Max Muncy doubled in a pair of runs for the Ports, but Stockton’s biggest bat of the night belonged to the recently resurgent Dusty Robinson, who slugged his 7th home run and drove in 3 runs. And in his first minor league rehab appearance, A’s outfielder Josh Reddick singled in 3 at-bats.
MIDWEST LEAGUE (Class-A)
Beloit Snappers 4
Kane County Cougars 8
LP – Avila 0-1 / 3.20
Farmhand Of The Game:
Pitcher Andres Avila
(5 IP / 7 H / 1 ER / 1 BB / 2 K)
It was a rough game for Beloit on Monday night. They scored the go-ahead in the 7th inning only to give back the lead thanks to a messy 5-run 8th for Kane County. Starter Michael Ynoa had his rockiest outing to date for the Snappers, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits in just 2 2/3 inning, but Beloit kept the pace, scoring 3 runs in the first 3 innings themselves. Catcher Nick Rickles collected 3 hits, including a triple and a double, and scord twice, while recently added outfielder Dayton Alexander drove in a pair of runs. RHP Andres Avila came in to mop up for Ynoa and held the Cougars scoreless for 4 1/3 innings, giving the Snappers the chance to come back and take the lead, until a messy 8th inning, marred by a pair of errors, in which 1 earned and 4 unearned runs crossed the plate. Avila ended up being saddled with his 1st loss for the Snappers despite lowering his ERA to 3.20.

Really looked like crap effort from a lot of the Cats last night. Choice’s error was just lazy. And Grant, while trying his ass off, just looks totally out of position. The path to the ball he has to take due to his size and skill set…I would be amazed if he ever wore green and gold at 2nd. That said, he does deserve to play. Very talented. Not sure what the solution is…
