RHP Mike Ekstrom followed up with 2 scoreless innings to earn his 1st win, while LHP Pedro Figueroa got the final 6 outs for his 1st save. Outfielder Shane Peterson hit a 2-run homer, his 4th, to put the River Cats on the board in the 1st inning, while designated hitter Grant Green had a pair of hits and doubled in the go-ahead run in the 7th for Sacramento.

Starter Zach Neal had another solid outing for the RockHounds, allowing 2 runs on just 3 hits over 6 innings to outduel Roy Oswalt and earn his 5th win on Friday. Outfielder Jake Goebbert, making his first start at first base, hit his 9th home run, his 3rd in the last 3 games, while catcher David Freitas hit his 6th home run, his 4th in the last 3 games.

Former 1st-round draft pick James Simmons turned in an impressive outing in his second start for Stockton, striking out 6 over 7 scoreless innings to earn his 1st win, and he’s now tossed 11 scoreless innings since being sent down from Sacramento. Shortstop Addison Russell drove in the first run for the Ports in the top of the 6th inning and, one out later, second baseman Antonio Lamas doubled in a pair of runs, which would be all Stockton would need on Friday night.

With the Snappers down by a run, first baseman Matt Olson blasted a 2-run homer in the bottom of the 5th inning to give Beloit the lead, which they would never relinquish. Outfielder Ryan Mathews hit a 2-run homer in the 4th, and catcher Bruce Maxwell collected 3 hits, including a double, and drove in the Snappers’ other run. Starter Derek De Young had a shaky outing, allowing 4 runs on 9 hits over 5 innings but still walked away with his 4th win, while RHP Vince Voiro tossed 4 scoreless innings to earn his 2nd save.
