Hiro Nakajima got his first start at second base for Sacramento on Monday and ended up driving in the tying and winnings runs for the River Cats. Designated hitter Grant Green doubled and drove in Sacramento’s only other run of the night. Starter Travis Banwart allowed 2 runs in 4 innings of work, while RHP Paul Smyth, in his first appearance since being called up from Midland, struck out 4 in 2 scoreless innings of relief. RHP Brian Gordon followed with 2 more scoreless innings to pick up the win, and RHP Dan Otero got the final 3 outs for his 11th save.

The RockHounds exploded for 19 runs on Monday, highlighted by a 9-run 8th inning. Outfielder D’Arby Myers led the way with 4 hits, including a home run and a double, and 5 RBIs, while second baseman Darwin Perez drove in 4 runs, and shortstop Dusty Coleman and designated hitter Chad Oberacker contributed 3 hits apiece. Starter Sean Murphy had his first really rough outing for the RockHounds, allowing 7 runs over 3 2/3 innings of work, while RHP Kyler Newby struck out 4 over the final 1 2/3 innings to pick up his 3rd win.

The Ports lineup had a big night at the plate on Monday, pushing 16 runs across the plate. Third baseman Tony Thompson hit 2 home runs, both during an 11-run 5th inning, and drove in 7. Outielder Myrio Richard homered for the second straight night, and first baseman Max Muncy went 4 for 4 and drove in a pair of runs. Starter Tanner Peters allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, over 5 innings to earn his 4th win.

Starter Raul Alcantara had another impressive outing for the Snappers on Monday, allowing 1 unearned run on just 1 hit while walking none and striking out 6, and left with the game tied 1-1. LHP Brent Powers picked up the win with 2 scoreless innings in relief, while RHP Ryan Dull got the final 3 outs to notch his 6th save. Third baseman Renato Nunez drove in 2 of the Snappers’ 4 runs but also made his 13th error.

I’m not sure off the top of my head. Don’t think it’d happened yet this year, but I remember it happening a couple times last year.
